Making tires fit around wheels better?

I just got my Bullitts put on today and I think the tires show alot of the wheel lip. Is this normal? They're Sumitomo 275s and 315s on 17x9 and 17x10.5s. Does that mean they have too much air or not enough air or are they just too small?

They're regular HTR Z's.

That's lame, what do you have to pay $290 per tire just for it to fit snug.

I have discovered that different car mfgs. have slightly different tire widths. Sumitomos might run a shade narrow, while the Goodyear Eagles run a bit wider.

I don't know how that happens since they are the same size though...

I always heard that Nittos were like the most narrow 315. I don't have any good pics right now, but I'll get some later.

I went w/ 275's, largest, least expensive in stock at the time and I had to get em on...I just have to be careful cornering so they don't roll too much.

Might be annoying, but they are not going anywhere. I think they look good IMO.

Man, that does look too small. Thats how my 245/45/17's looked when I temporarily threw them on my new 03 17x9 Cobra wheels. I went with 275/40/17 Kumho 712 and have the factory look again. I noticed alot of people do that, but the tire is actually to small for the wheel, the wheel lip should not even be close to sticking out farther than the tire. Those sizes should have been correct if you had a different maker in tires.

40th GT, spend the money for the correct tire size. Man those sidewalls look soooooo stretched

Certain brands have no lip protection and end up looking like that. Others like BFG and Kumho are ery snug to the wheels lip. I would shange tire brands.; Maybe some michelin polits, but they aint cheap thats for sure.

Thats the thing, the tires aren't too small....there is just no lip protection! I don't wanna screw up my pretty wheels!

Kumhos are cheap and look great around the lip.

They are good tires if you go through a set every year like i do

I go through a set of tires every few months. And if its anitto drag radial, im lucky if i can get 2 full months out of them.

Yea thats why i try to avoid beating the **** outa them. Im just saying for 107 a tire for 275's your not gona find a better deal

Well I was shopping for 315s and I didn't see any Khumos on the list so I didn't get those.
