ok i added an ASP 7 inch crank pulley like 2 weeks ago. for some more boost. i was seeing 5-6 psi with my out of the box SC trim with a boostmaster pipe. best run was 12.16@almost 113

when i added the pulley i also added 42 lb injectors and ditched the FMU, without a tune i KNEW it would run rich but it ran TOO RICH, it would drive fine but would get too rich under WOT and just hinder power output, it made 8-9 with the pulley but it didnt feel any faster, in fact it felt slower than what it did with 5-6 psi

well i plan to get tweecer this winter and tune the car for 42s and etc. but in the mean time i tore her down and put the 19s back on with the FMU. to make it run with a more ideal fuel air ratio that what it was. ( was blowing black smoke out the exhaust)

got the 19s and FMU back on and ran the car, MY GOODNESS what a difference. i finally got to feel the 9 psi for what it was. and it was good. car will PULL your head off. as long as its not spinning the tires. from a 2nd gear roll it will light the tires up with ease now. never did that before, even with all the suspension goodies i have.

bad thing is i had some bad driveability issues with the 19s it would idle rough and want to die. with the 42s it wouldnt die on a cold start ( probably the richness) but it drove alot better wouldnt sputter.

i think the 19s are just old. they are factory and never been cleaned or anything.

i dont want to run the FMU but i will for now until i can get another track trip in before the seaon ends for a good baseline. over the winter i plan to tune it and get it running better and solve my idle and drivability issues.

i still have to mess with the idle and stuff some to get it running a little better. i will try to get some vids up this weekend.

nice, but the 19's are enough to keep you from going lean?

it seems to be running decent. i know the 19s alone couldnt handle it. the SC (5 psi) and S trim(8-10 psi) kits are designed for stock engines and utilize the stock injectors and FMU. people do it all the time.

my engine isnt anything radical, just thumpers and a b-cam and intake with bolt ones. nothing too special really. the FMU (out of box with 19lb disc) dumps 12 psi of FP for ever 1 psi of pressure in the manifold. so its just cramming the fuel in. its not ideal for long injector life but it does work.

the ideal way which i plan to do it tune it through the EEC with a larger injector, in my case 42s

yeah one of my future goals is to get a mustang and start a slow project of fabbing my own turbo kit, make my own stainless headers and tubing etc etc and make like 500 rwhp. that would be sick!

Hi fox,

You do not know me. However, as I came across your thread title I could not help but think that punctuation is a VERY good thing.

Good thing I can't add CTs or you would have one right now that says "man boost is addictive".

That is all....carry on gentlemen.

Does it blow the tires off when you hammer it in 2nd or do you have to wait for the boost to come on before the tires spin? either way sounds like good fun. I cant wait to get a little boost on my combo. What do you think you are making for power at that boost level? 400 to the wheels?

it makes boost pretty early with the bigger crank pulley so i am not sure.

and for HP i duno maybe 350-360 i have no idea just a guess.

On the contrary my friend....the stock bottom end will handle 30psi all day long (in the turbo engines that is). It's more about everything else that needs to be done to be able to really use it like 90lb/hr injectors, ported everything, huge turbo/intercooler, 3'' or bigger exhaust, huge fuel pump etc. Get all that taken care of and make sure the tune is spot on and you'll make a solid 400hp at the wheels without even stroking the block. There's actually a write-up along these lines on an SVO in an old 5.0 mag.
