Long time no visit. No work on stang either, but my step daughter just graduated last night and is off to college next year. We're headed to Texico, NM in about 6 1/2 hours for her best friend's graduation so I gotta get to the sack.

Uh-oh, what did I do?

Damn, I'm sorry I pissed in your Post Toasties Winters....

Mongo, my son is finally getting old enough to start working on the Stang. He's 9 1/2 now, hoping to get the garage cleaned out Memorial Weekend and get the thing back inside after it's 3 year stay outdoors with no cover. I did use some foil ductwork tape to cover the cowl vent up so it wouldn't get full of leaves. When I tore the 289 down years back, you could still see cross hatching on the cylinders, so I'm going to get it vatted, clean out the oil passages with some gun brushes, run bottoming taps down all the holes and put new rings and bearings back in it and leave it as is. Probably put in a new cam and lifters as I don't remember which one came out of it and I'm sure the lifters aren't in order. I have a full gasket set laying around as well as a new Melling pump and a Coyles timing set. Maybe we'll do that first as I have my rotisserie loaned out, so when I get it back, we'll put her on the 'spit'.

I'm gonna have to come up with a manual tranny, originally it was a 3-speed, but I had pulled it out for a Top Loader and traded off the 3-speed. Can't decide on a 3-speed, Top Loader, a 80's 3+1 Top Loader or a T-5.

Sounds like you've been slacking off out there! Of course I have not done much better. I did finally get a replacement for the 64-1/2 in the form of a 65 Coupe that is begging for attention. But until I get the 8N back together, that side of the garage is taken and the other Mustang is living in stall 2.

The weather hasn't been to cooperative here....I don't HAVE a garage! Got outside today to work on fitting up the new rocker skin on the passenger side. Well, Murphy struck again!!!
Had the new skin fitted in place, seams around the rear portion looked good, then went and put the front fender back on....No Go! 1/4" overlap.
Took the rocker skin off and set the fender lined up the seams, went to fit up the rocker.......couldn't make it go. No how, no way.
Measured the length from wheel well to fender on BOTH sides of the car..61"
Measured the new rocker skin..61-1/4"
AND... it's gonna rain tomorrow and Wednesday...my only other days off this week!

So is the rocker panel 1/4" too long or did the car shrink over the winter?

It must be metric!!!

Prolly going to have to split it and zip out 1/4" and butt weld it back together.

I'm just ready to get my garage back.
