Looking at Blowers and turbo systems, why do some of them say "Manual Transmission Only!"?

Is it a tuning issue?

Personally, I'd rather have a 3500 Stall in an automatic intead of a manual trans. I've been out of the gear shifting scene for a few years now and don't plan on going back.

Thanks

its usually so they dont have to tune the transmission AND the engine. they are too lazy to make an auto tune.

You also have to remember that the stock 5speed auto can't handle alot of power.

When I went with 13psi, the stock converter started locking and unlocking on the big end. Also, I have had my auto gone through with billet servos, some other stuff to be able to hold 600rwhp with reliability.

Torque Converter on the 5speed Auto is really weak. MY son has replaced many of them on 100% stock warranty cars because of the hub cracking.

New stall is very high up the list. Right behind new ring and pinion.

I figured it was an issue with tuning...

thanks guys!

The reason is that the 5R55S transmission is not designed to hold that much power. It has soft bands and clutches and the input shaft is only 5/8". The 3rd gear clutch is the highest failure point. I know of lots and lots of people who have lost 3rd gear after upping the boost. The stock tranny tuning is very soft.
Kenne Bell has firmed up the shifts in their tune and I am sure the other supercharger makers are also tuning the tranny in their tunes.
Many of the supercharger manufacturers are not selling HO kits for automatics so they do not have a bunch of customers whining that their auto trannies failed after the kit was installed.
My transmission lasted 3000 miles once I was at 10 PSI. I have since replaced it with a beefed up Level 10 Stage III trans and converter. Some people have had it hold up okay but my dealer alone has had 5 cars with FI lose their trannies. I have seen countless posts on forums from S197 owners that have had issues with the 5R55S.
