all of the mark 8's 96+ have the teksid block. unless it's ovality or cracks prevents .020 overbore the block alone is worth 800.00 machined.

SVTech, dude you should put that motor in a stang with a 96+ cobra intake and cams. it won't torque, but it loves to rev.

a wise man would overbore it .020" and add a 3.75" stroke crank. add some cubes and the heads match better. blown it is hard to top.

a few hundred dollars of machine work, and wellah.

heads: 3 angle, sand the ports smooth. back cut the valves.

i have one (mark8)in the back yard i haven't used yet. i'm considering getting some 3v heads and using that.

I bought it with the intentions of ripping the motor out of it and sticking it in a stang after my wife got done with driving it. She now has a new fusion so the car just sits.

the heads don't torque, but they at least are better than 2v in larger cube apps.

any 4v is better with the tiny bore size of these motors it's the only way you can get decent airflow.. you can't make a 2v head with big enough valves with the small bore we are stuck with. I sure hope on the next generation ford V8 they go with a 4.00 bore.

Heads, cams, crank, and intake manifold are some differences between mark VIII and Cobra 4Vs I can think of off the top of my head. What year mark VIII, i think the 97 98 mark VIII motors are better than the 94-96. Different intake and heads. Sounds like abig job, good luck.
