Maryland State inspection?

Hey does anyone know what all they check during a Maryland state vehicle inspection or what I should check over before I take it in for one?

Also the little red indicator on my automatic (96 GT) doesnt show what gear yourin but you can tell from the lever position (happened on all my stangs) will that likely fail it?

Not many inspectors here in Maryland will slide you through unless they know you very well because of very steep penalties on their drivers license if they are caught. Some may let you slide on something very minute like the gear indicator but nothing especially safety related like the brakes, tires, brake lines, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. It depends on who you know and how bad the car really is. If you stop at my shop in Randallstown, I can look it over and see if my guy might get you through without too much hassle. PM me and i"ll give you the number and address.

when i bought my car, i didn't have the lugnut key, so the inspector couldn't take off the tires to properly measure the brakes. he said he'd do his best to see how they look, and passed me. not sure if he could actually tell. it was a friend of a friend kind of thing, so that probably helped.
