I have a 1994 Cobra and my Mass Air meter is junk. What is the difference between the Fox body Mass Air Meters and the SN95's? Is it just the way the filter bolts up to the SN95s? Can I still use a Fox body Mass Air with my BBK CAI because it wont allow me to use a 94-95 Mass Air Meter? I have a Trick Flow Track Heat intake manifold and plenum with a BBK 75mm TB. What size Mass Air Meter should I buy? Those mods along with underdrives, full exhaust, BBK CAI, 4.10 gears, will it be too much air and loose low end torque. I know my GT-40P stock heads are killing me and I will soon change them. Thanks for the info

You dont have gt40P heads stock you have the reg. gt40 heads.

The way our 94-95 cars work compared to the foxes you really need to keep the stocker (your fine powerwise now anyway with it), or get one specificly for the 94-95 if its an aftermarket (Pro-M is the only aftermarket NON TUNER meter I would go with) meter.

IF you can tune your eec via a Tweecer, SCT, eectuner, ect. Then either a factory maf or SCT is your best bet with pro-M at the back of that pack (IMHO).

Really though until your making more than 290-300rwhp the stock maf is fine. Just get a elbow or CAI that will work with the stocker.

Sorry for the misunderstanding on the heads. I plan on turboing the car over the winter so I would like to go ahead and get a bigger meter now since I need one. Would an 80mm be adequate or not (I have a 75mm TB)? So a Pro-M is the one to get. Is a C&L not any good? As far as tuning I can run an aftermarket MAF without tuning the car right now and have no driveability problems? I do hear horror stories on SN95 computers.

I would hold off on the meter until you do the turbo. Get a good meter that will work with a turbo.

With working without a tuning device Pro-M will be the best choice though.

C&L are good for foxes but there is a diff. in our eec and the fox eec.

You never really know about drivability until you get there. With a turbo I would plan for a dyno tune at the very least. But Pro-M is going to be about as good as your going to get and drive it without a tune. Same goes for the size of the meter. Things like how much boost, type of heads, intake, and cam all contribute to needs. Someone might peg the meter under 8psi someone else may peg it at 15psi.

The reason I dont like C&L for our cars is that the whole eec is based around the MAF in our cars. From what fuel and spark tables get used to an accurate air intake at idle or part throt. The C&L is just not accurate enough with its method.

Yeah pretty sure your right bout ProM. I just searched the fox mass air use on sn95s and I see mixed reviews. Man I think Im just going to get the stock Cobra mass air and put it on. They are 70mm. Do you think that 70mm Mass is good enough for a 75mm throttle body. Although the Fox mas airs are a LOT cheaper. Im stuck on which one to get

Alot of people have good luck with a Lightning 90mm Maf or 03-04 cobra maf. But at the point they get pegged people seem to go up to sct meters (again if they get a tune to get either of these mafs to work).

Yes Pmas is what Pro-M was the employees bought the company. I just always still post that as they are basicly the same company.

75mm t-body and the stock maf prob. wont gain alot of power but you prob. wont have as many headaches either. You could just hold off on installing it until you add the turbo kit and maf for the turbo as well.

OK there is an 80mm Mass Air meter for 94-95 stangs thats calibrated for 24lb injectors. Not quite sure the brand name yet as I emailed the seller for that. I dont need a tune with the new mass air with my mnimal mods do I?(CAI, trick flow track heat intake, 75mm tb, underdrives and gears with full exhaust) Thanks for the info guys

i wouldnt "upgrade" your mass air until you NEED to. Messing with a stock mass air without tuning for performance usually nets a loss in power.
it would be stupid to buy a mass air for 24's now when you are going to turbo and need one for 42's this winter. You will be spending double the money for NO improvements

Right now I need to Jackie. My old one crapped out on me. I can get this one pretty cheap and thats why I wanted to go ahead and get it. My driveability is crap right now and I would like to drive it some before the winter got here. And so with this new mass air meter I will have to get the car tuned?

Looking in my twEECer and comparing the MAF Transfer curves between the MAF on my 95GT and the MAF Transfer of an A9L processor, the two curves ARE different.

SO, you would have to have the EEC updated w/ the correct MAF Transfer so that it knows what the airflow is at the voltage the fox body meter puts out.

Our cars live and die by a proper MAF reading because of how they calculate engine load - I'd get a replacement stock meter or get another meter and a tune.

If you have a Cobra, you'll need a MAF calibrated for 19lb injectors, even though the car itself came with 24s from the factory. The GT and Cobra use the same meter stock, the calibration for the injectors is done in the computer, not the MAF.

Well I didnt know that. I see mafs in Summit for 94/95 Cobras and 94-95 GTs with different part #s. So I just need to get a MAF for a 94GT because the Cobra is the same?

as was stated, the gt and cobra meters are the same. if you are going turbo, i would look into finding a blow through used pro-m or pmas meter. however, you wont be able to use the meter until the turbo goes on. those meters are designed to meter compressed air and are placed in between the compressor side of the turbo and the throttle body rather than before the turbo. hope that helps.
