Mass Air Swap

I have 1986 GT that I have changed to mass air and having trouble when I reach around 4000 rpm. I had it on dyno and was told it was running pig rich at that point, until then it runs like a bat out of hell. It's almost feels like when you hit rev limit. My question is will my code reader be correct since I changed to mass air with a new ecm. Thanks

The code reader will work for Mustangs 86-95, which are all ODBI.
