massive electrical problems after fire damage rebuild

alright-heres the gist-

car is a 99 gt, bought it salvage due to the fact that it had an interior fire-everything iside was roasted, engine/etc was untouched

parts came from 2 different cars-

1. 1999 gt-from this car i used all door locks, pcm, dashboard, cluster, ignition, column, and key

2. 2002 v6-from this car i used the complete interior wiring harness, interior, and misc. other parts

PROBLEMS:

nothing works properly-the car will crank, but the anti theft light blinks-however, it did start once, only to die after 10 seconds. occasionally if you cycle the key the light will cease to come on. ALSO the theft light will not come on when the headlights are on? but still wont start. NEXT the gauges dont work at all-occasionally the needles will move, but go right back down. The windows dont work, nor do the door locks-the chime for open door works, as do the power mirrors. ODD-now heres something that makes me think i missed a ground wire-when you turn the heater or hit the power seat switch, etc on (none of which work) the radio will get power and come on, gauge illumination, as well as some other small things. The headlights work (both hi, low, and foglights), but the front running lights stay on-4 ways dont work, nor do the blinkers, and when the 4 ways are put on the car will make a horrible buzzing sound-

my ideas-gem module, pats system (99 gt parts sat for 2 years in a garage) as the anti theft light does blink-but i really doubt that is causing all the rest of the interior power issues. More than likely i forgot a ground somewhere in the dashboard-DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY GROUDS THAT TIE THE DASH HARNESS TO THE CHASSIS? i didnt hook up any grounds besides the one in the pcm harness, which is from the 99gt parts car

PLEASE HELP ME! i want this car running SOON

m thinking its a ground related problem-today i found 3 that were off-one by the fuel pump driver in the trunk, and 2 (together) on the pass. side trans tunnel behind the dash-now my seats work, blower motor, trunk opener, and oddly enough my gauges work when you leave the key on for about 20 seconds, and the anti theft light goes off as well-the car cranks and fires-but there is no fuel pressure to the rail so it wont stay running

stuff that still doesnt work:

wipers, windows, locks (something behind the dash clicks when the lock button is depressed) radio (comes on sometimes) check engine light doesnt do the self test, nor does anything on the right side of the cluster

thanks for the help guys-i guess what im asking here is does anyone have an evtm for a 99 and 2002, and if anyone here has replaced the chassis harness, were there any grounds underneath the carpet? also, how many grounds were behind the dash? so far all ive got are the 2 bundled ones on the pass. trans tunnel area-Mike

ok the theft light problem is a pats system error. you need to use the PCM, pats transducer and intrument cluster out of the 99 gt. the SAME 99 gt not a different one.

and the other problems i bet you forgot a ground or 2 and maybe a bulkhead connector. check up by the fuse box and see if all of them are pluged in.

i guess everyones not reading-I USED ALL THE PATS PARTS OUT OF THE SAME 99gt?!!!!? so all the parts match-3 of the big fuses under the hood were blown-so now EVERYTHING WORKS-anti theft doesnt blink, etc, but there is no fuel pressure at the rail? out to check more fuses and relays-Mike

a fix for the gauges waiting to come on - i popped a fuse for the DRL (i think) module in the under-dash fuse box. mine did that until i replaced the fuse... its the fuse by the empty corner near the cigar lighter fuse.

sounds like your getting it under control. :nice: good luck man

ALRIGHT-final problem here fellas-everything works great on the inside of the car-had a few blown fuses, all fixed, but no fuel pressure at the rail? where is the fuel pump relay located? thanks, Mike

the Fuel Pump Driver Module is in the trunk by the driver's rear tire. it looks like there are 6 wires to it. it's after the Inertia Switch.

the Fuel Pump Relay is in the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) which should be by the air filter. (it may be in the fender by the air filter)

good luck

alright-heres what ive found-

the fuel pump does not come on-no audible noise even when laying under the car with ear to the tank-NEXT, the inertia switch (little cutoff switch at the rear) has juice to it-does this mean that the pcm is sending signal to turn the pump on? Ive changed the fuel pump driver module, still the same.

since you have power at the inertia switch the CCRM is ok

connect a volt meter between pin #3 RD/BK and pin #10 BN/PK at the fuel pump driver module, you should have 12+ volts with engine cranking or for 2 seconds after key on.

alright-havent been able to check yet-been swamped, but assuming i do have juice there, whats the next step? wheres the circuit go from there? (oh-and btw, ive changed the driver module with a known good one with no effect) Mike

to whoever cares-the car is completely done, everything works, and it runs fantastic-in the end it was the fuel pump being bad, in addition to a few blown fuses and missed grounds-thanks for the help, Mike
