I am thinking about getting some new AFR heads for my windsor, but AFR doesn't make an intake to match up with any of them. Would it be ok to use an Performer RPM intake and the cam kit that's sold with it, or is there a better intake to use with AFRs???

sorry, I shoulda said this earlier. I can't cut the hood at all 'cuz it's a sleeper, so it won't work to have a REAL tall intake. Also I have an Edelbrock 750 carb. I don't know if that makes any diff. thanks for th help, though! any other ideas?

I just mean for the most power. I've heard that using components built by the same manufacturer work better together (to get power, gas mileage, torque, etc.) than mixing and matching parts from 4 or 5 or 6 different builders. maybe this isn't the case. I've heard that AFR's are good heads for a street car and that Edelbrock makes a good intake for the windsor. I just don't know if it would be very smart to mix the 2.

Last time I checked, AFR doesn't make intakes, so what are you going to do? The AFR's are one of the best heads out there (better than the edelbrocks). It's all about mixing and matching correctly.

Both the Edelbrock Performer RPM and the Weiand Stealth are good dual plane intakes that can fit under a stock hood (depending on your choice of air cleaner and possibly motor mounts).

It is key to match the components, but that doesn't mean the manufacturer must be the same.

An engine can be a stump puller, a high rpm screamer, or something in between. If your intake and carb are for high rpms, a stump puller cam isn't a good idea. So you want to match the designed rpm ranges.

Edit: I don't see what motor you have, but a 750 cfm carb is pretty big unless you have a big block or a pretty high rpm motor.

I have tried the air gap, performer rpm and the victor jr. The air gap and victor jr. are too tall for a stock hood. I don't know of any intake that matches port size with AFR heads. I am still battling the victor jr. and I am thinking about going back to the performer RPM.

the victor will work on a 302 with a 1" drop base air cleaner...like the cobra Oval style or a few offered from edelbrock...ask 2BaV8. If this is a 351w....huey is right.

I have a performer RPM intake for a 302. PM ME If interested.

so the only one short enough is the performer rpm and the port sizes don't match up??that sucks!! could i gain any extra room if I made my mach 1 scoop functional?? it's a pretty small scoop (compared to the huge Boss scoop) so I don't know if there would be room. but if that worked, would that gain me an extra inch or so??
