i currently have a 96gt and may be selling it. i have found a 95 gt with around 75,000 miles for 3-3,500. if i do get it, how do i need to do to get around the 350-450hp area n/a. i wouldn't mind putting another motor in it after the drivetrain and suspension work. what do y'all think? also, is it a good idea to get the 95 or should i keep the 96. i owe 6,000 on the 96 so it will be longer to pay it off which is why i am considering the 95.

the 96 has a lot of options with it. i used to own a modular. the 5.0 has more options, but is a little bit rougher car. the modulars are silky smooth even when cammed out. if u r looking for somehting rough around the edges and torquey then get the 5.0, but if u r looking to make power and keep it smooth then keep the modular. to be honest with you after having both i miss the modular car. they seemed to rev a lot easier than the 5.0's . but i do still love the 5.0, so that is a toss up. if u cna get urself out of debt and get the 5.0 i guess go ahead and do that it will give u more money to spend on the car.

How did that happen?

If you wouldnt "mind" putting the engine in your 5.0, why bother wasting time piddling around with 10hp bolt ons....Drop a 347 right in there and you will already be in the mid-high 3's (with supporting exhaust and cam) If you want more and you know it from the start, have the 347 made with NOS in mind

Good Luck

View attachment 507529 what the hell kind of 347 are you building lol. Price for modding you just can't compare the two the 5.0 wins hands down. What you guys pay for ported stock heads is what we pay for a set. Now you can do most of the work yourself and save cash for other upgrades. I have a buddy who has a 98 gt he makes twice the amount of $$ then I do yet I'm faster mod for mod. We both have intakes, h pipes, 3.73, u/d pulleys, and the only thing I have that he doesn't is equal length headers but he has LCA. Mod for mod I have more low end tq so once I get away it can't reel me in he's done, where as I can play catch up.

To get 350-450RWHP you will need to add cubes. A well thought out 347 will put in the mid to high 300's just like Rob stated above, you can make over 400rwhp but its not that easy as some will lead you to believe. If I were starting from scratch I would go right to a 351 based stroker. With that, and a GOOD H/C/I setup you will see your goals met.

I'd go with the '95 if the condition is good.

the condition is great. i know i will be rebuilding this 4.6 if i keep it and would add a s/c too. for the price of all that i think i could have a n/a motor in the 95 with around 400, and then still have room for s/c or charger in the future.

with sayin that u definately want a 351 based motor, heh , 400na and still able to support a blower isn;t likely with a 347stroker, unless u wanna blow somthing up, 351 stroker i suppose it should be doable, but sounds like u want a pricey setup

The engine itself, is similar in price range...it's the "extras" that are alot more with that engine...You need a different Distributor, different headers, (2 biggest) and other things that go along with the actual install of the engine.

If you go and look up the price of the motors, youll find the prices very similar.
