ok i have the chance to by what i believe is a 76 coupe with a 6 and 4 speed with strait body no rust a interior thats perfect besides one crack on the dash and needs a starter we push cranked it and it runs good but im looking to make it a sleeper would a big block fit in it cause i have one i can get relatively cheap

"sleeper" and "big block" do not go together when dealing with a II.

To make the car strong enough (and safe enough) for a big block, it's going to need some pretty serious chassis work, likely to include a cage.

A decent body is always a good buy, if it's cheap enough.

Putting a "big block" into a II will require major modifications to the car.

My suggestion would be to build a nice potent stroked small block if you want to retain the factory look of the car. It will be just as fast, and better handling.
