I'm driving to my parents house from my apartment. My brother is following me in his 94 prelude. I give him crap about it all the time. We get a red light and he switches over to the lane next to me. He gives me no indication he wants to race, but to prepare I pull it down to 1. The light turns green so I just start going as normal. I notice he jumps (or trys to) off the line so I floor it. I look over at him slowly falling behind. He shifts. I immediatly look at the tach thinking I have to shift soon. Nope. We're going 30mph. Still accelerating. Time to shift. Push in the button. Push the shifter into D. Pull it back to 1. The damn handle explodes. He's in the rearview mirror, so I put it in drive and kept on driving. So the rest of the ride home I'm scared I just broke the handle and/or something just flew out the window. A few minutes of searching and I find the spring, then the button, then the handle. phew.

Little side note...hes got one of those noisey exhausts, but hes got some ricer denial. He says his car isn't rice.

i had an 86 auto 5.00 notch... not to be busting balls or sorry if its a stupid question, but why would you shift back to 1? . o and i neer knew those black things around that smiley were arms/shoulders. i just thought his head was in a vice and i never knew what that smilie meant. sorry lol.

I hated when my car was a basically stock AOD. It was very slow, and I myself would have been scared to run similar cars to that, as they might hold up pretty well! Im willing to bet without the gears the race might have been close!

if you pull it back into 1 it'll lock it in 2nd.

I don't race for bragging rights. Only for pink slips!... I just do it for fun. So far, everything is built except for the engine. You got me wondering what the aod gear ratios are.

My brother told me the other day "I got a new performance header". It took a minute for me to remember he only has 1 header.

where in charleston are you, i live in west ashley, im suprised ive never seen you around

Thats true, but then again the tall first gear ratio KILLS how the car launches. My sisters 94 feels like a joke out of the hole (auto with 3.73s) but pulls good in 2nd. I just enjoy a shorter first gear and the pull you get from it!
