Here's a short start-up and rev clip of SLP's on my otherwise stone stock Saleen. I just did this last weekend.

High compression 351w stroker with 1 7/8"+ LTs, 3" Prochamber, 3" Flowmaster 40s, and 3" tailpipes.

The catback is only a part of the battle.

If the above is not "nasty" enough, lose the tailpipes and run dumps

If you want mean... Pypes is the only way to go. The fitment isn't that great so plan on tweaking it a bit, but a Pypes system will make an SLP sound like childs play.

Get ready for 50 opinions on what mean sounds like. Some people like deep rumble, some people like it raspy. I've tried a zillion combos and for my money it's hard to beat Magnaflows with an X pipe. They may not be mean 100% of the time and you won't look obnoxious...but it definitely sounds like you mean business when the throttle is opened up. If you want it more obnoxious more of the time, go with Macs and an X. If you want it all obnoxious all the time, Spintechs with an X are good...or just about any tube style muffler.

I find myself digging the answers suggesting a mean motor to create a mean sound. What's the point of a mean sound if it doesn't have something to back it up. If you want sound, go get a honda with a fartcan.

I'm running 2 1/2" off-road h pipe, 40 series Flowmasters running through echo chambers. IMHO it sounds bada$$! Everyone always compliments the sound!

While a built motor is certainly a great way to get a mean sound I don't agree that it's the only way to obtain it. I also don't agree with the "you want sound, get a honda" comment as those cars sound like ****.

I think as far as any stock to decently modified 5.0 stang goes, what goes on before the catback is just as important for the end result. Removing at least 2 of the stock 4 cats makes a big difference as does an x pipe. IMHO dumped exhaust will never sound good but it sure can be loud and obnoxious.

I love these threads where I can chime in on exhaust!

Mine has Mac Prochamber (no cats), shorty headers, and Mac Flowpaths dumped. It has a decent lope to it with the cam.

I think it sounds very deep and has a mean sound. But like said before, everyone's version of mean is different. Some like it loud and obnoxious. Mine is pretty loud but to me its deeper and has more rumble.

I'll even post a video
