I hope you don't take this wrong, Jay, but the opening of your second sentence sums it up, you are speaking as a retailer. What about the guy who just spent a hefty chunk of disposable income, only to find out that the parts don't even come close to bolting on a low mileage, undamaged car? Where's his (my) recourse? Who sticks up for me? The retailer? No way, they offered to take it back for a mere 20% restocking fee, plus I would have had to pay over $200 to ship both parts back. That means that out of the $1000 laid out, I may have gotten back $600. BFD. How about Bill Maier, you think he cares about the end user? If he even cared a little bit, he would not be selling garbage for the past several decades. As a machinist, I am always concious of the quality and fit of EVERY single part I make. If I hear of a problem with my parts, I'm on it right now and I do whatever necessary to make it right to whomever got the faulty part, even if it means making another one for free on my own time, I do this because my name and reputaion are what matters in my business. The day I stop caring about what my customers think will be a cold day in July. For the life of me, I can't understand people that don't think this same way, and therefore have an extremely low opinion of those people. You can't just care about quality when it's convenient, and you can't do it for money, if you aren't driven by the need to do the best you can, you are a failure and an fraud. I tried to contact Maier Racing via the email address on their website a few times, but never got a response, and yes, I was civil. After all, we're all entitled to make problems right, but to not even acknowledge my problem is a slap in the face, and has helped form my opinion of companies like Maier and is indicative of their need to improve their product. I get the feeling that they feel they are one of the few producing Shelby 'glass at all and we as consumers should be honored that they offer it for us to use. I've always respected your opinion on things, Jay and hope that you don't think this was directed at you or your shop, after all I haven't done business with you yet (sorry!) but certainly will since you're prices are competitive and I wouldn't have to pay sales tax. But I'm fed up with poor quality parts and the "who cares" mentality of some vendors.
