Metal Distortion?

I had locking hood pins installed on the car after it came back from paint... I worked on the car for a month and a half, and I left the hood open.. Would that have caused some kind of distortion in the metal? because now... when the hood. one side locks while the other doesn't the lock seems to be a tad bit lower.

could the hinges not be totally tightened down, or perhaps you bumped one of the pins?

Th car is at paint for the interior and buffing, When i get it back i'll investigate more, it just hit me a few hours ago that it might've been distortion but i'm not sure that that is entirely possible.
As a temporary fix I put a washer in to raise it a little so it would lock.
