well my friend's oil pump seized up on him and we pulled the pan and he reached around in thereand pulled out like 5 good size pieces of metal. we took out the pump and took off the plate to find something that resembles a pin or something. as thick as a paper clip, but not close to being the size of a paper clip. the oil wasn't "metallic" so there weren't any small shavings in it. there's no way this came in through the top end. the pieces of metal almost look like a washer cut in half. they look too small to be a part of a piston ring. the distributor shaft did wiggle around. could it be a part of the distributor that fell down in there? that's the only way that i could see big chunks of metal getting into the pan.

any thoughts are welcome

thanks,
chris

it was on my friend's car and i will try to get pics soon. we replaced the oil pump . wasnt going to risk having oil pump failure or crappy pressure due to a shot oil pump after we got the car all back together.

yes, the distributor wobbles so we replaced it with one that doesnt.
