I am putting my S-Trim on finally and am wondering if before I get it tuned I should have some sort of intake cooling device installed. I know the meth is alot cheaper and easier to install, but how long does a tank last? Is an intercooler worth $1000 more?

I've decided to fork over the extra dough for an intercooler with my procharger. I just don't like the idea of having to constantly refill the reservoir, and if I forget, i'm screwed.

i think the snow perfomance meth injection has some sort of safety to protect it against that.

From Snow's website their kit for the mustang works off boost, not maf voltage like some other kits. Which style is better?

Are you talking about $1000 for a custom intercooler mounting job? I'm not aware of any aftermarket solutions.

I'm in the same boat - about to put on an S-trim. There's a thread on here that someone kindly posted pictures of his custom intercooler setup w/ his S-trim - it looked great.

The owner of the local Mustang speed shop who does a good deal of supercharger installs and tuning told me that it's not a matter of IF the meth will clog but WHEN. He still used the systems but said you just had to be sure to regularly maintain it.

I *personally* would go the custom intercooler route. I went with a supercharger over nitrous because I wanted a "maintenance-free" system - the meth is just one more thing I have to worry about - especially since I DD my car.

That being said however, I love Snow Performanance's safeguards built into their system - if my car was more race-oriented I very well may be looking seriously into their solution.

wes is on that like white on rice. only intercooler that i know of that fits a vortech on our cars is if you run it through the firewall then have a snorkel intake. basically all out racing setup. there just isn't enough room between the discharge of the s/c and the shock tower to run two sets of ducting and still be efficient.

intercooler, get a intercooler off ebay and a universal 3" piping kit, less than 400 for both combined. 31x12x3 and you will have no problems, there is a guy on corral with a setup like this pushing 427 at the wheels with 6psi

I am going to put the Snow one on my car. I haven't heard of them clogging before. The anderson one they also got great results using winshield wiper fluid.

My question is what clogs up? What do you do to maintain it? I hardly drive mine so will it clog up more? I didn't think winshield washer fluid would clog up?

Thank for any info!

Vince told me the nozzles over time pick up small bits of dirt that the air filter doesn't catch. It didn't sound like it was something that would happen quick - supposedly it's just a maintenance thing you check periodically like changing the air filter or checking your fluids.

That being said, he pushes the meth pretty hard on his wilder combos so he definately likes it.

http://www.lnsauto.com is their site if you want to call him up and get all the particulars.

I have the snow system with their large tank in the trunk..works great. I don't use as much as I thought I would, and filling it is not a problem. I have the 2 led's on the gauge pillar - red shows tank is getting low and green shows when it's spraying.

I hadn't heard about the system clogging, but I have heard of a few people that have had the pump fail.

I put the Snow stage 2 kit on my car last year in July. So I only have driven my car with the meth kit for 5 months before the car got put away. So far I haven't had any issues. I only have the 2 quart reseviour. I did a couple of autocross events, and went to the drag strip a couple of times. The car is my daily driver in the summer, and I went through 4 gallons of the meth/water mix over the course of 5 months.

The kit was pretty easy to install. When I went to tune the car, I put down 446 rwhp with the kit not running.
I plugged the kit in and tweaked the A/F ratio to lean it out a bit as the meth made it run a little richer. I added just a couple degrees of timing, and ended up making 497 rwhp at 5500 rpm. Normally I go up to 6,000 rpm's, but somehow I reset my rev limiter while I was tweaking things. I definately could have made more power, but I decided that was enough on the stock block.

I still would rather have an intercooler than the meth injection, but it seemed like it was just going to be too much of a pain to go that route.

Gotta a simple question: Where do you go to fill the tank? What is involved with filling the tank.

If Wi Stang only used 4 gallons in 5 months with a 2 gallon tank, then that's not bad at all. Filling up once every couple of months would be ideal. I was originally thinking that filling up would be way more often.

Actually it's only a 2 quart tank not a 2 gallon tank. It is just the regular tank that comes with the kit. With normal driving and getting on it a little bit each day I could get by with checking the level just when I put gas in the car.

I ran the methanol mixture from Snow Performance. Boost Juice. Its 49% methanol, and 51% water. I would like to use just the windshield washer fluid, but I feel like I would need to go back to the dyno and tune for it since the methanol mixture would be different.

Here is what they have on their web site, http://www.snowperformance.net/index.php ,about where to get methanol.

Where can I purchase Methanol?

SP sells 50/50% methanol/waterMethanol as Boost Juice™ (see products). Methanol can generally be purchased where racing fuels are sold. Also, most gas line dryers like "Heat" are simply Methanol. Suppliers of industrial chemicals can also supply Methanol usually at a higher price than fuel suppliers.

If all else fails, most windshield washer fluids are up to 40% Methanol and 58% water. Although most contain some glycol and detergent(less than 1%), most windshield washer fluids are up to 40% methanol. Try to find one that indicates "contains methanol" and is rated to -20ºf.

Methanol can be purchased on the web at www.worldwideracingfuels.com and hiperfuels.com.

Wi Stang thanks for the write-up, thats the kind of dyno #'s and daily driver info I was looking for.

Did you try to run any additional boost with the meth to make those, or is that power gain from more timing only?

Also what size pulleys do you have, and how much boost did you make those numbers at.

Thanks again

As much as I would like to turn up the boost, I figure I need to stay where I am at on the stock bottom end. I am making about 10 lbs of boost off of the Vortech kit with an AFM power pipe.
I am pretty sure the pulley size is a 3.33" blower, and 6.87" crank pulley.

The power gains were all from the meth kit and adding only a couple degrees to my base timing. I know that I could have gotten some more horse power out of it, but I'll wait till I get a stronger block for that. I don't want to push my luck too far.
