I like my Pro 5.0 and would buy again but I heard there was one that just came out that was a little more durable than the Pro 5.0 (might be the MGW).

search function is your friend. I have a Pro 5.0 but I'd try the MGW out. Seems to be a step up from the Pro 5.0.

I've drove both, the MGW was to "tight" feeling, plus I like the unbreakable feeling of a Pro 5.0. I also like the "straight" shifter design, and not the factory like, bent shifter design.

Thw MGW is quite "tight" so it depends on what kind of feel you want. I really like mine, but honestly I could throw gears a little faster with my old Hurst. That may be becuase its brand new, I dont know. The throw on my MGW is WAY shorter than the Hurst was. Overall I stil like the firm feel of the MGW.

I have the MGW, shortest throw of anyshifter out there, and if you miss shifts with one of these its time to buy an auto!

You really can't complain about a shifter so your not likely to hear negatives because of the simple design of a shifter.

Missing a shift with a shifter doesn't mean you are a bad driver...that is all about timing of clutch/hand...not shifter. You can hit shifts with a stock shifter just as consistently.

The main reason I would get a shifter is for feel and protection of the aluminum shift forks that you can bend when "overshifting"...

A reason I like the Pro 5.0 over the other shifters is because it actually gets away from the stock shifter bend. The other shifters have that bend in them. The Pro 5.0 is a straight cut...

The MGW is really tight between 1,3,5 gears and 2nd and 4th gears. It seems to me like you could hit another gear pretty easily...when I was driving it...but it was a very nice shifter either way!

i love my trusty pro5.0. This thing it TOUGH...and i really love the straight shifter as well. I think since i've owned the shifter, i've missed second once, cuz i let the clutch out too fast, but have yet to miss 3rd...this is going on 2 years.

MGW.

When you use it, you don't have that "afraid" feeling of snapping the thing in half by slamming it so hard into gear like you get when you try to quick-shift with the stock shifter.

The MGW on my '86 was so great that the first mod I spend money on my 88 after I get done making it safe to drive will be the MGW.

Any aftermarket shifter will be an improvement over the stock one, especially the top 3: Pro 5.0, MGW, Steeda...they will all give the same "improvement" feeling...driving different shifters gives you a preference feeling...

Both are great and you really can't go wrong with either. It all comes down to personal preference. I am very pleased with my MGW but I havn't tried a Pro50 to compare.
