Got the new MGW delivered yesterday. I have read about a "something"bob gasket instead of using the RTV sealant. Is there anyone out there that has done it one way or the other and have a suggestion for me. Should I use the sealant or order the gasket?

I have never used a gasket, always RTV with no problems.

I would use the RTV and put the thing in. No sense waiting any longer for the install.

just use the sealant. its not real messy, and you wont have to wait for "cobra bob's" gasket. just be careful not to get any old sealant in the tranny when you scrape it off. you're gonna love the MGW

Yeah, I just got one in yesterday, installing that baby in the morning. I cannot wait, and I will be using the RTV on mine.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just go with the RTV too. Hopefully if it quits raining here today, I can get mine installed too!

Installed mine this morning. I will add to the many testamonials about this shifter kit that MGW has. They send you detailed instructions with pictures, the RTV, new bolts to mount shifter on the tranny, and also an allen wrench to mount the lever and set the stops. All you have to get is a putty knife or razor blade to scrape off old shifter seal and provide the socket wrench & 8, 10 & 13 mm sockets. I will also add that this is the best short shifter I have ever used! I give it a big ten! I got the new gold handle. Total time to remove old and install new shifter: 1 Hour

Just wanted to add this: before MGW shifter, I had the occasional shift into Reverse "Grinding", seems I have not had a single grind since installing the MGW and I will also add that the 2nd-3rd shift is so much better. This may have been the best 200 bucks I've spent so far and it wasn't even a performance mod.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to CobraBob's shifter gasket. I got it for mine to avoid the RTV mess and it's awesome; nice, clean and quiet.

Because im a post whore...gives you an idea of the difference between the orange/gold and blue handles. unfortunately i dont think they are interchangable. if you look closely there are small differences in the new center shaft as well. either way, you have a kick ass shifter

Got her on yesterday in about 1 1/2 hours, but then I was also watching my 2 & 6 year olds at the same time. Very easy and I used the RTV sealant cause I didn't want to wait for the gasket to ship. From what I can tell, it's as quiet as the stock shifter and I ran her up to 115mph on the service road. The shift to 3rd is really short. I thought I didn't have it all the way in the first time!

Well, I also had to pay GA taxes on mine or it would have been about 15 dollars cheaper. But I ordered it on a Wednesday night on their website and it was waiting for me Friday afternoon!
