yes i used the search button and only one thing came up lol............well anyway i dont want to get lt's because that seems just like way too much and i dont want to get shorties because they say they only make like 3-4 hp so what would a good pair of midlengths be and will they pass inspection? and how much will they run me?

thanks

I have Bassani Mid-length ceramic coated. You should be able to find it for less than $600. Your other choice is JBA titanium mid-length which costs a little more than the bassani.

20 rwhp gain without losing too much low-end torque like the LT.

ya, they are not legal in CA. my old work just made a Ford dealer take basani midlengths off of a 03 GT and swap in stock headers and H pipe, then they screwed up and put on a 6 cat H pipe, so that failed too. they are a very cool exhaust setup, and i would definately run them if it werent for the whole not being legal in CA thing. also be aware that a few other states are adopting CA smog/emissions laws.

I live in CA........ my smog inspection is in 13 months.

bdcardinal, do you think i'll pass the sniffer part of the test? I have matching bassani catted x-pipe. I'm not worry about the visual part of the inspection.

you will come very close. i tested a 04 mystichrome cobra with a kenne bell and bassani catted x and it failed tailpipe. the cats did nothing to lower emissions, as my 98 gt blew very similar numbers and it has a o/r bassani x pipe.

I've had my tranny out twice since I installed the Bassani mid-lengths. Simply rent a slide hammer and remove the collectors on both headers and you can get the tranny down pretty easy. This is where it pays to use plenty of anti-seize . . . you did use your anti-seize right?

Don't you still get more overall hp and torque with the LTs..I was looking into getting some SLP lts and a new midpipe..some Hpipe catted or prochamber..what you all think?

i think if you get the mid lengths, you have to get either a bassani or a JBA midpipe to match up.

you can easily remove the trans with the midlength headers, thats one of the big advantages of having them over long tubes.
Im running the jba mids and all u have to do is make custom down pipes from the headers to the mid pipe. Im still using my slp x/c-back. Oh yeah, picked up 3mph in the 1/4.

Yeah I dont know where the myth of lost Tq from LT's come from.. it may move higher in the range..300rpm maybe:rolleyes:

I have discussed this topic with some of the big name engine builders and they laugh at the lost TQ comments.

About the LT and torque comment, what I meant to say is that generally, JBA and Bassani midlength headers will make MORE low-end torque than LT's. The reason you don't hear a lot about mid-length headers is because they cost an arm and a leg compared to LT. I've seen LT as cheap at $300 at summitracing.
