Mid pipe install.....seriously wtf

Man i just did my pypes x pipe last week...and it was a pain in the a$$. I soak those header studs and tried to he-man them off... We ended up with a 1/2in 15mm with extension and swivel and air gun and they came off in less than a second. <-- Should have done this in the first place instead of popping some veins. Nevertheless, that pypes x just isn't straight bolt on...had tons of leaks...the weld on the o2 cracked and it hung very low. Eventually i took to muffler shop...they re did everything and it sits at stock height up and tight and straighten it out and welded the pipe together and its all good.

if you dont mind me asking how much they charge you at the shop...to redo everything...so no leaks and raise to stock height ...etc....also what kind of shop like any ol shop or like a well known name??

I went to a local small muffler shop... They charged me $60 The pypes x pipe kit is a three piece design that i got. One pipe for driver, one for passenger and they bolt to the x design. The only pipe that was at stock height was the passenger pipe. Fully bolted to header flange it sat at stock height. They left that pipe on and measured how much to cut for drivers side pipe so that it sat at the same height as passengers. They cut about four inches below drivers o2 bung and cut a piece off so that it will be same height as passengers. For some reason, the drivers side hung really low so that had to be done. Once pipe was welded back together, the x pipe was put into place as to bolt it on, but was welded instead of bolted. Everything came out great and it sits high like the stock h pipe. Some aftermarket pipes tend to hang really low and scrape on speed bumps. They also re-adjusted/welded a tailpipe/tip because the x pipe made one stick out more and re welded the passenger o2 bung because the weld cracked which sucked cause pipe was brand new but i guess some have their own flaws.

Jack car up...turn car on...and feel with hand around pipe trying not to touch for air...its gonna be hot but some leaks are barely noticeable and need to be felt. I would get the bolted on parts welded. Feel for leaks around the o2 bungs. My passenger o2 bung weld cracked and had a small leak. Those small barely noticeable leaks can sure trip out that o2 sensor especially by o2 bung well at least the front ones.

also, if you are going to use a tuner to turn off the rear O'2's You can just get a couple bolts to plug the rear O2 holes (make sure to seal them) and cover the plugs where they should have plugged into and save yourself the money from the extensions.
