was curious if people could give their thoughts. only 4 pics in the link but i plan on taking a digi cam this weekend(hopefully when i look at it) and take more detailed pics of almost everything. i plan on looking at the hard spots like the tire well and whatnot, supposably it's super clean and straight with only a small ding and a couple of small scratches. some of the things he told me over the phone are as follows; '91 LX 145, 000, built AOD, stock motor(headers, 2" to 2.5" chrome tips that start around tires/flowmasters, 3.73 possi(with new clutches, huh?), the 17x9 4-lug cobra's w/ extra ponies/tires. Interior is "immaculate" with really small stains if you get down and look for them. exterior has fresh Midnight blue(swirls that he says can be buffed out), a scratch on the bumper and one of the roof, a little ding by the driver's key hole. car is also lowered something like 2.5" using eibach(he didnt really make clear which suspension package). thats basically what i have for now and the link below has the craigslist listing. any input on what to ask or what to look for tomorrow would be helpful. thanks.

so i've heard. i've looked at some that the overdrive is basically no more after shift kits. i plan on driving if he can make it up closer to me 'cuz i dont want to pay for a cab down to him, that's nearly $100 fee for me.

Yeah, 100 bucks can go a long way. You wouldn't want to do that for him. If he could meet half way that would be great. I have done that before, and sometimes it works out, but sometimes not.

It is always worth a shot.

I'm lost... If he paid to have PA install a new tranny, have him send you a receipt via email.

16K invested for a car that he wants 6200 for?

I've been in built AOD's that leave at 4500 off of a trans brake and have held up time after time with lots of abuse dished out to them.

Lift the trunk mat and make sure it has not been whacked. Check front sub frames and core support.

I think a car of that stature, if done correctly, is worth 5-6.

6 if he can provide all receipts.

so i will try to talk the guy down from $6, 200 if we set up a time for me to inspect it in person and drive it as anyone should when looking at a car. just curious if anyone had anymore advice/comments/concerns for me. it's all appreciated and what do some of you think of what he's asking for it?

145K miles....for $6200???

Needs to come down a bit. I don't see how $16K was invested unless that paint job cost $10K

Does look like a clean car though. Engine bay could use some serious detailing though. It looks 145K right there. Valve cover gaskets are no big deal. A couple hours of work. If the rest of the car does check out OK i wouldn't pass it up because of that. Just get some 1993 resealable VC gaskets and do it in 1 afternoon

The more i see pics, the more I like it.

I just don't think it's a $6200 car. I'd have to see it in person though and check the undercarriage, inside the door jambs and other areas where rust and rot would show through.

hmm..6k..for 145k..a bit much...6k is what a super nice sn95 would go for..being a notch its rare I guess...that hood is to "boy racer/ricer whatever" for me. The paint looked hazy in that pic of the 1/4 panel...you see off the reflection..maybe just needs cut and buffed...or just a bad repaint..could explain a lot of pics in the shade? Id say that car is worth $4000 tops imo...I like tranny and aod's are not bad when built properly...t5's are weak as well once you put power behind them..Id still prefer a 5 speed but auto would kill the sale if the car is nice and the price is right.

he told me it could use a buffing the first time i called him. i feel the same on the price but he says he's firm. that if it was a gt it'd be different but since it's a notch he's selling it cheap 'cuz of the resto.... the thing for me is that i'm from Iowa, hard to find a straight car out there and this is pretty much what i want(besides the hood). unmolested motor with a lot of the looks already covered, cept that hood. i'm not too worried about the shaded pics, 'cuz the only way i'd even get close to buying it is after a test drive. i also plan on taking plenty of my own pics, which will be in a parking lot during the middle of the day.:nice: i know i'll be a tough critic when i see it, checking for any defects. also, sometimes a dirty engine bay is better than a clean one, eh? clean could mean that someone is trying to hide something like a leak.
