I have a 2006 GT 5-spd manual, and im only getting 11 miles to the gallon? Is this normal? what milage are you guys getting in a 5-spd? i just think its kinda weird that my 5.4L expedition is making better milage than the stang

i dunno i drive pretty agressivly from a stop and i am a begining driver on a stick, aka slipping the clutch and reving the engine, just wasting gas i get 14-16 driving liberally. so you might want to go to a doctor, i heard Leadfoot disease is a symtom of getting a mustang.

Reset the MPG back and let it recalibrate itself. I doubt its that bad. Unless you floor it everywhere you go, but even then it should only drop to 15 or MPG. Reset the dash mileage display, gallons used, and average MPG and it should rise considerably.

i reset it all the time, and when i fill it up i reset everything, no rise in milage. And every now and then i gun it a bit, but its not like i floor it all the time. should i take it in to the dealer?

Let the motor get some more miles. I was in the same boat until i hit 5000 .Then my mpg shot up to about 15 in town with alot of stop and go traffic and 25 on freeway.

Worst mine ever got was 14 mpg. Best so far has been 23.5. You'd have to really be into the pedal to get 11. Have it checked out, something's wrong.

Mine was getting like 12mpg(city) the first 3,500 miles or so. Now at 6,000+ it has gone up to 16mpg(city).

Dumb question, but did you check it the old fashion way of filling it, resetting the trip odo, when its time fill it again, and do the math?

no i havent tried that, i think i'll do it. But if i do the math and the milage is different, the problem would be in the computer right?

Right. Technology nowadays...just can't count on it. The other thing to note is that the mileage on the computer is calculated for a certain average time period, I think a couple of days or so many miles. It's in the manual somewhere. I.e. if you do a lot of highway driving during the week, you should see it climb a little, but a lot of around town driving on the weekend, probably a slight decline. I wouldn't reset it at every fillup. Let it average out, and see what it gives. I'm getting (according to the computer) 22 overall average MPG. I know it's slightly wrong because I...argh...commute 130 miles every day, each way (long story for another thread) and my old car (Caddy CTS V6) got 26MPG. I fill up EVERYDAY and I know it used to cost me $26-$27 per day. Same trip, exact same miles, same gas station, filled to the top, now only costs me $22 (yes, I figured the cost of gas per gallon...trust me a few pennies means a big difference at the end of the month.)
