Miles per gallon

Forgot to say this in my post earlier about my ring under the back seat, but I was pleased yesterday to find that my "95 GT got 24.5 miles per gallon in my trip to and part way back (269 miles) from my house to my son's house. I had not checked it since getting the car in October. Of the 4 other Mustangs I have owned, this is the first one with Auto Trans.

I've found much the same efficiency on all the Mustangs I've owned, but you have to be driving on the freeway to get it. Driving on surface streets alone, I've never gotten over 16. I've had about the same gas mileage on autos and manual trannys. But then again, I love to drive fast. :D

Back in it's absolutely stock days, I once saw my GT get 25-26mpg. That was driving halfway across the country at 65mph. Never on the throttle....okay maybe once or twice...

I got 29mpg on a trip yesterday driving around 60-65mph. I am doing my own tuning with a tweecer & am still not done with tuning it yet. mine is a 393 w/5spd & I pretty much babied it all the way. with the wideband I was more aware of my right foot if you know what I mean. @ cruising speed my A/F's hovered around 14.7.

one lunchtime this week i plan to fill it up and just cruise on the highway about 50 miles and then fill it up again just to see what kind of miles mine makes out on the open road. i would expect it to be halfway decent since it is geared such that 70 mph in overdrive is 2000 rpm.

i'm at about 12 MPG around the city.

I used to get about 24-25 MPG on the highway in my old '95 going about 70-75. In the Bullitt I now get about 27-28 on the highway going the same speed. Driving from NJ to GA and back twice a year gives me the perfect opportunity to test MPG over an extended distance. I only get about 12 MPG around town though. I pretty much never drive more than 3 miles at a time around town here in Savannah while I'm at school so even though a tank of gas lasts me 3-4 weeks, I only get like 160-175 miles per tank :notnice:

I pulled 23 mpg's out of my GTS on a 175 mile trip a few weeks back. I was cruising at no less than 80, but normally 85-90, for 150 miles of the trip. On the way home, I didn't record the mileage, as my throttle usage was a bit excessive. Let's just say I trimmed a '2 hour and 45 minute' drive, to a bit under 2 hours start to finish, straight through... Good times in the Rustang. :rlaugh:

i did this today. filled it up, got on rt 95 towards baltimore (65 mph speed limit) and just cruised at about 75 mph for about 40 miles (with the top down of course). it was a very pleasant drive. it was turning about 2100 rmp most of the time.

i went 42.7 miles on 2.4 gallons. that works out to about 17.8 miles per gallon.

for my car, with these 3.27 gears in 4th gear, 70 mph is 2000 rpm, and 80 mph is only about 2200 rpm. one time i stepped on it a little and it was turning a little under 2500 rpm at 90. it was just starting to get into the power band, but i let off because i am paranoid about getting pulled over. at that rate though, if i kept in it until (only) 4000 rpm, i'd probably be going 130-140.
