I'm thinking about a mini spool, no more clutch problems, 100% locked all the time Plus I get to make tire sounds when turning around tight corners lol Anyone have that on a weekend street/track car?

With little tires (225, 245 street compound) you almost dont notice it unless you're going into a parking spor or doing very low speed manuvers. Otherwise its great. Sick donuts too

With big tires and/or drag radials, it binds up just like everyone says. But hey if you want it, why not.

i would invest in a good locker instead. Heaven forbid you got caught in a rain storm or something.

I used to run my car on the street quite a bit with the spool. I always had ET Streets on the car so it didn't squeal going around turns but it used to chew my skinnys in the front down in no time. If you have a chance of getting caught in the rain, I wouldn't run the spool. It will send you in a circle real quick. A Detroit locker would be cool but they're so damn expensive.

I run a full spool on the street for the last 4 years daily and for the last couple months on M/T drag radial's. I love the spool but wont buy M/T drag radial's on a daily driver they wear to fast driving everyday and then making passes at the track. It's gets expensive. I love the spool and I would do it again.

Spool is so muche safer in a rain storm than a locker!! You defintely have never driven a welded or spooled rear, because they are very predictable. As long as you know how to drive your spooled rear, youll be sliding through those corners in no time! A locker on the other hand can engage on a rainy corner withou notice and your gonna get squirelly pretty fast. Is this 8.8 or 9"?

I always assumed when people reffered to 9" they meant the 8.8" since its only .2" off, cant you just install a new spool/axle combo from like moser into a stock 8.8" with c-clip eliminators? Or is a whole new rear end needed?
