well i turned on to this nice open road and ran it through 2nd went to shift into 3rd and well missed. needless to say it reved way into redline. just wondering if i damaged anything internally? it still runs awesome, but i think ill just granny shift 3rd from now on. i guess ill just chech my oil for shavings and hope i didnt spin a bearing. but what are the chances of this? thanks...

Did you hear any LOUD noises? Other than the motor screaming @ 6,000+?

Not that I am proud of it, but I have missed the 5 to 3 downshift on the highway and didn't do any damage.

You really should consider an aftermarket shifter. The difference is amazing!

definitely get an aftermarket shifter. I had my gas pedal get caught underneath my floor mat once and the stock tach went way past 6k but i'm sure the 6,250 rev limited did its job. You'll be alright.

You Would Probibly Know Imediately If You Dammaged Something, We All Have Done It In The Past. Scared The Heck Out Of You Did'nt It? Lol. I'd Definitely Invest In A Shorty Shifter Like Raceoholic330 Recomendedand Don't Granny Shift Practice, practicepractice, practice, practice,

lol hell yeah it scared the crap out of me, i almost sharted. i got a hurst short throw on it, usually i can chirp um goin into third. it was like a freak incedent and i hope to god i never do it again, i probably will though. thanks for the replys!

i'm guessing it isn't good to do that often with a stockish engine but, ford set the rev limiter there for a reason......i'm surprised it wasn't set lower.....if your too worried you could always instal a msd 6al box and put a lower rpm limiting pill in it

Hey i did something like that once. When i was 16 i got a 90 Mustang. I had a short shifter on it and i was used to driving a manual explorer where the gears were about a mile apart. And i went to down shift from 5 to 3 and i hit 1 on accident. Well the engine went straight to the rev limiter and the rear tires locked up and i about **** in my pants. We've all had our moments, practice. I've gotten where i can spin em slightly in 3 and chirp 4 on a wet day, so....just practice and get you a Steeda:nice:

I did something very similar to this once. It was in the Stang and ended up going off-road as the result of a non-recoverable fish tail. GET AN AFTERMARKET SHIFTER!!!! It's just one more thing that you can eliminate as a potential crash cause.
