I tore my 347 apart after a missed shift and a loud knock at 1500rpm and so far I found 1 CYL with a loose piston...mabey a 1/16 inch or less up or down with a knock when hit the ball of my hand. The rest are quiet. once I get the other head off ill fill you in on that side. Hope I can save the block.....I should be able to right? any suggs?

thanks

you should be able to save the block depending on why the piston is loose....if its a smoked bearing you should be fine...but if the wrist pin broke or something and chunked the bore than thats another strory...but im hoping for the best

like dragnazz said, as long as long as the cylinder walls look fine, I don't see why you couldn't reuse the block. Once you get it all torn down, inspect it really well and make sure everything looks ok. You could always take it to a machinist and have them look it over too.

well!!

its all my fault...I didnt have a chip in there. I KNOW I KNOW dumb a*s me and now i'm paying for it. I think the bottom end is fine because it ran fine just knocked and 1500 rpm. dose anybody know if the stroker kits use standard 302 bearings?

thanks
