I bought my stang a few weeks ago and the horn didnt work. Well ive looked around for it and havent found it. I also dont think the switch in the wheel is working. Is there supposed to be a contact plate or somethin'? Also, where would the horn be under the hood? any ideas for fix?

Thanx

the horns are under the battery tray, driver's side. The horn pad on the steering wheel gets wore down. one or both of your horns are probably blown. OR the fuse could be blown. and the fuse could be blown cause the horn/s are blown...the horn and cigarette lighter are on the same fuse also.

yes. the horn buttons have circular metal contact pads that touch 4 little lump-shaped contacts... I dunno if that helps. my horn button was in the ash tray when i bought the car, and i had to glue it back in... Sry i cant give u any tips on y it doesnt work tho.

how about mine, both horns work because i ran a hot wire down there to check them but when the button is pushed nothing happens. the fuse is good and i even crossed the 2 horn wires and still nothing. is there a horn relay, somebody says there is but the wiring diagramn says otherwise. but i can't find it. there is a wire connector under the dash that looks as though a relay goes there but it is missing. it has like 4-6 wires going to it and 4 prongs.

The horns typically develop an internal short to ground, which causes the fues to blow.

The horns are located under the car on the driver's side, forward of the front wheel well. Disconnect BOTH horns, replace the fuse: if the fuse blows immediately, the problem is most likely in the cigar lighter circuit. If not, then press the horn button on the steering wheel: if the fuse blows the problem is in the wiring between the horn relay and the horn. If doesn't blow when you press the horn button, connect ONE of the horns and try again. If it still doesn't blow the fuse, connect the other horn. Chances are that the first horn you re-connect will blow the fuse. Whatever horn blows the fuse at this point has an internal short and is trash. Time for a trip to the junkyard...

horn update

Ok. The fuse WAS blown. I replaced it and i can hear the relay when i push the horn button. I took out the horns, i tested them w/ another car battery and one i got nothing, and the other tried but didnt sound right. Im gonna go get some new horns. I will post an update with the new horns later.

thanks for all your help

My horns blew up a while back.

So i bought some horns called "Super Duper Highway Blaster" and put those in....

Let's just say when i lay on the horn everyone in a 4-block radius can hear me! :)
