I am currently running Mobil1 10W30 (what the previous owner put in before I bought it) but will be switching to 15W50 in a month or so when I change it.

I prefer thicker oil because the climate here doesn't get down much below freezing in the winter and stays in the 80-90F range over the summer.

Theoretically speaking, 10W30 and 10W40 should flow equally well under colder conditions, so if you're gonna switch from 10W40 in the winter, why not go with 5W30 that will flow a bit better when the temps are low?

15W-50 year-round here in Florida. Never have a problem during our so-called wintertime.

10w-30 synthetic.

Would I benefit from changing during our HOT summers here in Fl?

5w-30 mobile one here.

a side note, use to run mobile one 15w-50 and after freshening the motor one winter found that my cromoly oil pump drive shaft was twisted. Came to the conclusion the oil was too thick causing excess loads on the oil pump. Also found that the thicker oil doesnt flow as well as the thinner, and since oil is suppose to lubricate and remove heat, I decide to switch to 5w-30, and in doing so the oil pump drive shaft and bearings look great after a few racing seasons, plus I picked up a few ponies with the thinner oil.
