The only problem with silicone couplers is they can and will blow apart. I dont care if your have a welded bead on the end of the pipe, t bolt clamps, whatever. They can and will come apart at the worst moment. On all of our build we use v bands and leave only 1 silicone coupler in the system (in case it over pressurizes ) and leave that coulpler in an easy to access spot. If you can weld it all up in steal I would rather see you do that. How much boost are you planning on running? We seem to have had most of our problems when we run over 18 - 20 lbs.

yeah definatly a good point, the less silicone couplers the better. usually though most setups arent running that much boost, especially if running a stock block.

I will be running stock block and internals so I really dont plan on running more then 13lbs of boost. It is a small turbo so I am only looking for around 350hp.

Yes it is a hx35. I am going to be buying a 16cm^2 non-wastegated exhaust housing for it. The hx40's are to hard to find in good condition and too expensive. I've seen people run hx35's and not have a problem with it choking up top, I got mine for cheap and doesnt need to be rebuilt. Like said before I dont plan on making more then 350hp, id be happy with 300, I can always upgrade later. I am looking at getting the B&G hotside. There was a guy on turbomustangs.com a while ago who ran stck everything with a single hx35 and made hp in the 300's and was running in the 11's.

Youd be happy with 300 to the wheels but yet your going turbo to get there?Hmm seems like your killing a ant with a shotgun.Just saying by the looks of the parts youve bought from ebay seems like your trying to save money. But yet your spending the most possible to get only 300hp.BTW i got a turbo cam and a D.S.S 8:5:1 compression rotate i just got came in a mustang i bought but im going n/a 331, spray so the internals are gonna be up for sale.

Looking Good!! i bought a MSD 6AL-2 a couple months ago and got a free MSD blaster coil with it i also have a MSD pro billet dist. so a couple days ago i figured what the hell get those MSD 8.5 super conductor wires and finish all MSD, i had the ford racing ones i can actually feel the difference with the MSDs feels like my electric system is on steriods. Only 1 drawback the 2nd and 3rd wire back from radiator passenger side touches header tubes, wire boot is straight no bend double connection design so i went out and bought a 2 pack of those dei boot covers got lucky same color as plug wire boot so not obvious if anybody has ever used them please PM me with experience i dont wanna hijack Mobs thread i would appreciate cause i have them boots making contact with header dont know if ok so far nothing burning? ow mob u asked if i drive my car u wouldn't believe how much if its nice out almost everyday (TOO MUCH) thats why im always cleaning car LOL GOOD LUCK with turbo stang!,

I dont see it that way. I can take some criticism so I am not trying to argue, but getting over 300hp N/A isnt exactly cheap. The first thing you will need is a set of $1000 dollar heads. and that's just the beginning.

I dont see why a turbo automatically means you have to make over 500hp. Killing an ant with a shotgun would be throwing a huge turbo on the car with only a 300hp goal. I am realistic about my budget, and realistic about what I expect the car to make. Whats wrong with throwing a turbo on a stock motor and making 300hp. I could spend a little under 2000 on a small turbo build and have a 300hp, or spend a little under 2000 on heads/cam/intake and have 300hp. I'd rather go with boost.

I am trying to save money, but the only part ive gotten from ebay is the intercooler. You can ask anyone and they will tell you the ebay intercoolers are just fine for a DIY kit, I dont need some custom made intercooler.

Plus with the B&G hotside, I can always just unbolt my turbo and drop a bigger one in, and at the most make a new downpipe and make the 500hp everyone thinks you should make with a turbo.

I also started working on these stock heads I picked up. I started removing the smog bumps heres a before and after pick. I'm not even close to being done though, didnt even have the valves out in the pics, I just got the springs off and valves out today so tomorrow I am going to work on them more.

I put the p heads on here to keep the rust out and took off the timing cover to change the chain and cam.

Not trying to argue either just saying theres a easier/cheaper way then boosting a car to make 300hp.But if you said you wanted to make 300hp for the street then make more for the track with the push of a button then yeah this is the way to go.

are you going to be using stock heads or something??

and 300 HP wont be much over what you have now. I garentee you will want more power and up the boost or get a bigger turbo. When i ran my vortech a few years ago i was in the same mentality. I was SURE i was going to run only 5psi and that would be enough. That didnt last a month and i ordered another pulley to up the boost. When you see how much difference the boost will make and realize how easy it is to make a little more power then, it wont be long before you turn the power up.

Unfortunately I had to change my plans, I am not gonna run the turbo because of money. I still plan on doing it eventually but for now I just have to get it running as I get my license back in August and I need a car to drive to work. I just bought a trickflow intake, I am gonna clean the ports and bowls up on my gt40p heads and change the springs, also gonna run a tfs stage 1 cam and be done with it for now. Still sticking with the manual steering, and solid mounts though so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully one day I'll be able to finish the turbo build.

Now that I am running the P heads, I decided to take them apart, and clean them up real good, and do a small port job, just clean up the bowls, smog bump, and some of the sharp edges. I should be getting my trickflow intake by the end of the week, I gotta clean that up and paint it to match everything else.

Also posting a couple pics of my 6al box I painted, the cast color I painted it is gonna be the color scheme of the engine parts, I taped off the big sticker so when I took everything off it really almost looks custom, I really like how it came out.

I've got one of my heads done and and am about to assemble it with the new springs I just got.

I also got my intake in and just finished cleaning and painting it. Also have my trickflow cam coming in the mail. Only thing left to get is injectors and headers which I stupidly sold.

Couple before and after pics

Finished one of the heads, I get my cam tomorrow, hopefully can get it in, in the next few days. I hope to have the car running in a week or two, and I am using stock headers on the gt40p heads well I am going to try, I test fitted them today and I just need to make a few dents and I think I can make them work. We will see. I cant afford 250 on headers for a month or so.

I don't want to be negative or anything, and I know what it's like to lose your license for whatever reason, which means lose money too...but are you basically going back to where you started right now? Was gonna be a turbo, but now, just the stock motor, cam, and a different intake? When are you planning on getting the "goods" on there

Well its not just a simple license suspension, ive been arrested twice, and have lost my license for a year, I can get a work license next week. So it is not just a 30 day suspension for too many tickets or something, I owe my lawyer more then $5,000, and a few hundred in court fines. And if I do not get my car running I will not be able to go to work. So it was either wait 6 months to finish the turbo, or sell the parts and get the car running now. Back at the begning of this thread I was still going through my court stuff and was expecting to have my license suspended for 5 years, when I found out my charges got dropped I changed my mind. So thats the reason behind me changing my mind

I do still consider it an upgrade though. The whole topend of the motor is clean and new. I have all new gaskets, and I was able to clean alot. Still have to change the oil pan gasket and oil pump. So maybe not as much performance as I would have liked but still upgrading alot. But even then, before I was running a old school bcam, and an explorer intake. Now I will be running a tfs stage 1, a trickflow intake, and I ported my p heads and change the whole valve train on them which I didnt do before. So we will see if I notice a difference when I get it back together, I hope I do.
