Hey guys, well i have one question, i was thinking of doing some mod work on my car, its a stock 99' V6. well pretty much I have $1000 dollars. now what should i do? should i sell my car and get a V8 or should i just spend the entire $1000 and start on modding my car? i will say that if i do any mod work on my car, then i will just keep it until the thing dies, i wont sell it. and as far as how far i want to go in mods, my goal is to have about 400-500 RHP. so i am just guessing, since i know nothing of performance, that i need to do heads, cams, headers, and a supercharger. well remember that i have $1000, so what is the first thing that i should do right now? i dont want to do anything where its labor twice down the line, so i want to go do things in the right steps. thanks a lot for your help.

You will NEVER get 400HP with 1000 dollars on a v6 mustang, it would be very difficult even with a supercharger which is about $2k on a 94-98 mustang your only looking at maybe 240HP. If your looking for 250HP then you could probally do that with 1k. Adding nitrous would help but I dont like nitrous. You can make a V6 fast but if you can buy a v8 I'd go for it, I have a 1994 v6 and my brother has a 2002 GT, the v8 is just so much better. He just threw on 2.5in duels, took off the cats and added 40 series flowmasters and it ROARS and has bite to back up the bark. I have my v6 for a daily driver but I have a 1973 mach 1 with a 351c im rebuilding with 4bbl quench heads which should make about 450HP when IM done. One thing I love about the 4v Clevelands is how simple it is to make power. New, intake, cam, and headers and your at 400HP. Just drop a Cleveland in your stang, you wont pass emissions but emissions are overated anyway.

Get the V8. Sell your V6 Mustang and upgrade into a V8 Mustang. The prices on the V8's are really cheap and affordable right now. There are many V8 Mustangs available at the Ford dealerships. You can get the BEST deal on a V8 Mustang right now.

Then take that $1000 and use it all on insurance and gas. Two reasons people stick with the six.

Not to crap on you pre-'99 guys, but '94 definately was not the strongest year for the V6 Mustang. Obviously the GT would be better than a V6 of it's own year, but an 8-year difference...

Not true......of course I have a lot more than $1000 in my car..

Got a conservative tune for maximum driveability, not maximum power and being on a mustang dynamometer, without RPM pickup, only off rear wheels. I was estimated by the tuner to have more like 290 at the wheels if all of the variables had worked out. Plus I'm getting 29 mpg

well, i didnt mean i am only going to spend $1000. i meant that i have $1000 right now, i want to start the process of doing work on my car. i eventually want to have some major power on the V6, and i dont want a v-8 i personally think it would be awesome to have a fast as hell V6 cause its so rare. so basically my question is what should i do for now to begin the process? please dont recommend nitrous. thanks

97v6Silver

it came to $4.56 and i got $0.44 change from a 5,

I like the V6's and would have previously advised keeping it, but after I recently upgraded from a '99 V6 to an '01 Gt, I have to say go to an 8. You wont be able to sell your car for a lot, but as mentioned above, Gt's are cheap right now. Good luck, with whatever you decide.

Go to the dealership (even if you're young) tell them you want to start up a GT, find a nice color that suites you, have the salesman get the keys. Start it up. Listen to that monstrous growl of the V8 engine. Imagine that you owned it.

I think you'll make your mind quik.
