modifying my subframes connectors?????

alright i guess i'll be simple and to the point i am currently running MM full length subs and required the use of side exhaust or dumps with my steeda five link. i went ahead and purchased a spintech side exhaust knowing i might encounter some problems... and i did. the pipes didnt want to clear my subs right were they have a bend in them to go down the the torque box. i got the exhaust cleared by tilting the mufflers themselves and rotating the u pipe and was successful in getting the pipe around the subs, but lost a good amount i ground clearance. i countered that by adjusting my ride right in the rear via steeda billet adjustable control arms. everything seemed to clear, even on speed bumps, driveways and such. i thought i was in the clear until this week. apparently when i slam on my brakes (something i overlooked) the dive of the car causes the pipes at their lowest point to touch down. obviously this is an unacceptable situation. . so i brainstormed for a while and came up with a idea and wanted to run it by you guys. if i heated up the subs at their bends and a couple other points and used a long screw jack and bent them to hug the floor in about a 8 inch area on both sides of the car would that affect anything? chassis? strength? i think notching them is outta the question, and this idea seems perfectly safe given the proper envirment and safety precautions. my concern is any affects this MIGHT have. if i am in the clear someone PLEASE let me know otherwise address your concerns and enlighten me by all means . i want to do this this weekend if at all possible. my only other option would be to buy some specialty subs from spintech... but i dont wanna go through all that hassle again to swap. thanks again everyone.. hopefully someone can help me out!

you read my mind daggar. i was thinking someone might bring this up and did consider cutting the subs and then putting in my own segment.... but if i had to weld in a new segment that would require me to pull the subs to do a proper job... then i might as well put in another set of subs. this is what i am trying to avoid. i just put these in about 2 months ago and dont really wanna tear them out. bending the subs just makes the most sense to me for some reason. now if i heat them up to bend them you are thinking it might affect the strength of the steel... am i correct? maybe i should contact MM and see if the have any recommendations and to see if they think it will weaken the steel at all. i just wanna play everything safe. i have SO much invested into this car's chassis/suspension that i dont really wanna compromise much as i am very satisfied with the way it performs. any other imput would be greatly appreciated.


oh and the 5 link... oh soo nice. . i wanted to try something different form the popular Torque arm setup and i must say i am extremely satisfied with the five link. the install is a little involved and will take a couple days if you are mechanically inclined. its a true point and shoot driving style. the rear end is extremely stable and you can get on the throttle mid corner for a HARD drive drive outta the turns. my brake dive ( big ass baer brakes) has been signifigantly reduced and my rear squat under hard accerleration is little to none... just hard core traction. . all in all i think you would like it. its just a matter of driving style.. which can be easily adapted. both the torque arm and 5-link are proven system and will make a world of a difference. my suggestion is to do what i did and try to get ahold of two cars with both types of rear suspension and see what type suits your natural driving style. even though you can learn to change your driving habits i am a firm believer that if something just feels right than you should go with it. its up to you. either way i doubt you will be dissapointed
