Well I've had my car all of a week tomorow (wed.) and already my car is modified, set a record for myself, heh.

Overall it's a pretty easy car to modify however talk about some elements that are just a downright PITA.

- Installed a Pro Fit mount for my XM Roady. Easy install, probably about the easiest thing I've done yet. The XM direct kit for behind the dash on the other hand, PITA. For whatever reason I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to disconnect that right hand bracket on the Hvac controls. Finally got it done, but man..

- Flowmaster axle back. Done in 2 hours without jacking the car up. Very happy with the results, those Flowmasters sound great IMO. Not incredibly loud, but enough to notice and with the pleasing flowmaster sound. PITA meter on that one incredibly high with that one bolt that is underneat the muffler itself when you remove the factory mufflers. Thankfully after you go put them back in that bolt is readily accessible but yeah not sure what Ford was thinking there.

- rear speaker install. That should only be a few minute job but thankfully my brightness decided that I should remove the orange factory screw mounts and replace it with some screws and lock nuts that I have. Heh well without a second set of hands that became a chore very quickly and no right angle phillips wrench means two screws need to be done later. I'm only half done those, thankfully a forgiving wife that was on her way to bed helped me tighten down 3 of the bolts so the speaker wouldn't flop about. That one by itself sounds pretty good back there though. :) That'll be finished tomorrow after a trip to Home Depot for the phillips wrench but PITA factor for a set of speakers is unusually high.

So yeah lots of little PITA things. Overall the car is easy to work on, just seems to be one bolt or whatever with each thing that makes it more work that it probably needs to be, heh.

About the only thing that went in easy peasy was the CDC Dynamite stick lights and my shorty antenna, lol!

those bolts for the mufflers are easily accessed with a ratcheting wrench, FYI, not that it helps now. overall, this car is easy to work on compared to many other cars. ford finally decided to give us a quick disconnect at the door jamb for the door wiring. :nice: before, you had to remove the wiring harness from the door to take the door off. :bang:

Changing the radiator wasn't hard, but it was more of a pita than other things on this car, especially having to pull off the front fascia, intercooler and all of the blower tubing. I can't complain though, it went smooth considering what it sounds like.

Have you noticed a difference in radio reception with the shorty antenna?

No, though I haven't spent much time on FM as I have XM and the 6 disc changer. I did drive around briefly on regular radio and didn't hear anything noticable. But I have XM because I was really getting tired of our local stations.

Hmm ratcheting wrench eh? I spent the last 10 years building up a pretty good supply of tools and yet I still find new ones I have to buy. That being said I just did the door panel speakers yesterday and now I can return my door panel removal tool as I never needed it. As you say much easier than in days gone by. I actually didn't even disconnect the door handle release cable, just set the door panel down carefully on some foam and worked on the speaker right there. It certainly is a lot easier to work on for sure, I just find it funny that on every project there is like one PITA bolt or connection that is awkward to get and slows down what is otherwise a really easy car to tweak/mod. Just need those special wrenches and stuff.

Like for the rear speakers, a right angle T20 screwdriver, I mean who doesn't have that? I had the allen keys but they were too big. I made it work and thankfully did no damage but not an easy task. Rear mufflers, got the job done with a regular wrench, but a ratcheting one to make it easy etc etc.

Fun car though, really liking how it's coming together, much better than my previous 3 Stangs.
