After hearing all the praise about this kit, I'm planning to buy the $3799 Mongoose Vortech S/C Kit from MPH and was wondering about a few things. Is the install very difficult that I should have a shop do it? I've installed myself all my mods that's listed in my sig. I know the S/C instal would definitely be a bit more lengthier than installing those mods but are the instructions fairly straightforward and simple? Also as far as a custom burned chip, I'm guessing I send them my current mods and they take that into account when burning the chip? My car is an auto, so how much power would you guys estimate that this S/C will bring my car to?

Thanks for any help guys

A vortech install is not that bad. Tapping the pan is the hardest part and even that isn't too hard. It would probably take you 1 really long day. I think vortech gives you a card to fill out that you fax them back. Then they express ship the chip out to you- they burn them to spec I believe. That's how it worked for me back in the day, it may be different now.

Just call an order it and tim will ask you what you have done to it. Then if you already have a tuner you can mail it to him and save about $250 and he'll ship it back. Thats what I did. When you go to dyno though he said with the autos you have to load one tune do a run then load the other. Something about locking up the convertor.

On the install I'll be able to tell you next Saturday. A friend of mine, anSVT mechaninc at ford, and me are going to the Shop and installing it.

the instructions are pretty straight foward i have done a few installs the only thing is the tapping of the pan that is a bit tricky but not that dificult. As far as the chip it would be better to get a tuner like SCT and send it in to MPH and they can burn a tune into it

Yeah I do have an Xcal 2 that I can send in to him. Another question that just came to my mind is.....are some of the parts of the kit cheaper quality in that I should go out and get some other parts to upgrade them such as spark plugs? I'm just wondering about other costs that I might have to incur due to working with cheap components that are packaged with the Vortech setup.

Yeah my Mongoose kit was real easy to install. The instructions from Vortech are great - but the supplemental stuff from MPH on moving the IAT sensor, doing the spark plugs, installing MAF and Boost pipe, etc., aren't the best. If you have any problems though a quick call [to MPH] and you will get everything sorted out. Basically IMO the Mongoose kits are the best option currently available for a complete supercharger package at a reasonable price.

I would reccomend going with their 4" boost pipe right off the bat also, it's worth 1-2psi extra boost atleast

I'mgetting the same kit for my GT. As far as I read, it comes with an X-Cal with a tune. Because of that, I'm doing alot of mods in one shot, like long tubes, plenum, etc

i ordered the kit about 2weeks ago and i am looking at it rigth now have not installed it yet
mph will mail you the spark plugs,42# injectors, fuel pump,90mm maf unit, sct tuner /w tune from tim (very safe tune) and some instructions

vortech mails you the supercharger with all the parts need for the install of the charger(ie. hoses, brackets, supercharger, screwss, ect.)

i am planing on installing the fuel pump today just to get that part out of the way but not sure on how hard that is going to be

it isnt hard at all. tapping the pan IS NOT HARD!!! i worried about that and it was soooo easy!! the novi 2k instructions really suck major a*s but i got mine on in about a days time. as far as power goes mine hit 375 but the yno guy said that i could hit 400 with a little more timing. the mongoose tune is very conservative to keep it safe!

Same here, I would have been at ~375 with a bit more timing when I was running the stock 3.6" vortech blower pulley. Supposedly Tim has never lost a stock block motor with the Mongoose kit tune. With the longtubes I'm waiting to install, MPH boost pipe, 3.3"RR pulley, and 75mm throttle body/plenum as the ONLY other power mods I'm hoping for over 400rwhp/tq

Tims' tune is the best out their and he has ever lost a stock engine
with the Mongoose tune witch is wonderful. From what I hear the
instructions are a breeze with the Vortech Mongoose kit and makes the
install alot more simple than the Paxton Novi 2K kit.Go for it you won't
be sorry Tim is the man lol!

V2. Also, for a view extra hundred you can upgrade to a T-trim blower which is more comparable to a Novi 2k (normally, if upgrading from S/SQ up to T-trim at a later date its much much more expensive).

This would be a good time to put your underdrive pulleys on Ebay, since you can no longer use them after the blower install.

For the price of $3,770, no, it does not. But, knowing MPH you could easily have them order you the aftercooled kit from Vortech, though there would be an additional cost. You can always add a FMIC (front mount intercooler) or even the Vortech Aftercooler at a later date with little modification.
