Mongoose kit... Which ONE?

I'm having trouble deciding which kit to get. They of course have the Kenne Bell 2.1L and 2.6L but also the Vortech kit. I'm not interested in the 2.6L because of having to replace my hood. So, between the KB and Vortech which is the better bet for making power? I'm not gunna list my supporting mods just because I have pretty much everything but cams. SO seriously I love you guys. Hook me up with some input.:SNSign:

It will really just come down to preference. Neither kit should be in one way superior to another unless you're splitting hairs and being really application specific.

Generally, you will hear that the KB will feel outstanding on the street while a vortech will be a track performer.

Although, once again, you will hear people argue both sides of that. Think about it from this point of view, where do you want your boost to hit? If you want that slap you in the face low end boost, get a KB, if you like your boost to build up, get a vortech.

That pretty much said everything I needed it to. KB it is. besides the fact I LOVE the whine.

Just to clarify, you MUST have MPH install the KB Mongoose kit - they do not ship the kits out (Kenne Bell has a policy about dealers not drop shipping kits directly to customers)

you wont be dissapointed with either. i wouldnt trade my novi 2k for my budys 1.7 just b/c his is a mojor PITA to drive on the street b/c of his traction issues.

Not a problem their shop is only 5hours from here.

Tractions issues... SWEET! Guess I'll just have to get some nice shoes on first. What's he running for tires? I'm prolly goin with some drag radials.

Get yourself a good set of LCA's along with some torque box reinforcements with some sticky tires and you should be good. Then again, self control is the best traction system.

I got the vortech T-trim mongoose kit. It was only $250 more than the s trim. Getting it installed next week

i drove his car home from work today.i had to put another set of new tires on it. (2 sets to one oil change) it was a blast to break them loose whenever i wanted.

I'm leaning more towards the vortech now.... Can someone explain the trims to me and what they mean? S-SQ-and T. I'm so lost. Also can someone link an intercooler kit that works with the system?

i say get the Novi 2000 one. it has more room to grow than the T-trim vortech

There is a strange noise when your buddy shift...sounds like something cracking???? Is it normal???? I dont remember mine doing it...but who know I haven't drove her for 3 month...damn winter.....

Maybe a little but realistically for what most people will push the car, not much. Imo the biggest benefit for me of all I have read would be the Novi has easier belt changes. The Vortechs major benefits are they are cheaper.

Both are equally reliable, make pretty equal power.

Nothing wrong with the S-trim, and I'm glad I have it over the KB. I sure it is great in all to have the 'tons' of low-end torque, but it's meaningless if you can't put it down. Plus, Tim can tune the car in a way to give you more timing/fuel down low to create a bit more torque than the factory setting. S and SQ trim have the same housing, difference is that the impeller design is such that the SQ is very quiet in comparison to the s-trim. Personally, I like hearing the blower whine, which is why I went with the S-trim. Unless you are planning on doing a huge build-up (and you really have to be truthful when asking yourself this), then there is no need for more than the S/SQ. There are plenty of guys from MPH running 500+ rwhp using S/SQ's. Like they said above, the worst thing about the vortech line is that the belt is a pain to change. Congrats on the blower though, and you should go to the mph forums and post in Ask Rhonda forum. She'll be able to answer any of your questions within a day or two.
