More Detonation problems

So I bought my BBK Upper plenum and installed it today. Car started right up afterwards, no problems. I drove it around, definetly noticed an increase in power, but it seems to ping pretty badly now. 4th gear around 1500rpm going up a hill makes it ping VERY badly. And if I'm in 2nd gear, turning around 4000rpm and stab the throttle, you can hear it ping for a second or two. What could be the problem here? I'm thinking it has something to do with my Hypertech programmer, because it's always pinged a bit since I put that on. Now that I installed the TB and Upper intake, its just gotten worse.

Any help is appreciated!


BTW- I am using 93 octane fuel.

Well, sounds like your hypertech has you running pretty lean and/or timing too far advanced. I'd start by going back to the factory tune and see how it does. You shouldn't ping with your mods on 93 octane. Then, go from there if it still pings.

reset the computer as well.

Check for leaks between the Maf and the plenum.
