Alright havent been on here in a while cause i sold my 04 but, i recently bought 2 foxes 89&90 5.0's. Here my problem, my 89 has idle surging problems. Some times it jumps up and holds high for a few then dies real low. and sometimes it sounds like it has a real nasty cam in it and the whole care shakes. Heres what i've done... cheked and adjusted tps, cleaned maf,replaced iac, checked for vacuum leaks, pulled code(none present),timing is ok. When cruising it had a "stumble" to it but i assume it was from the tps being outta adjustment. also when i unplug iac and or maf nothing happens what so ever.anyone think i have a faulty ecm maybe? sorry for the long post wanted to give all the details.

So you can pull codes from the ECM?

If you had trouble pulling codes along with all those other problems, it might be related to a burnt circuit on the ECM.

I hooked up the jumper wires and test light and the only code I get is the initial code 11 that repeats itself like 3 times or so.

Check your coil to see if it's cracked or bad. Best to run the car at night and look at the coil to see if you can see spark jumping off.

If you squeeze a vacuum line shut with your fingers does it get any better/worse?

I can think of a few things off hand that will cause that problem...

* bad PIP sensor in the distributor (seen it MANY times)
* aftermarket cam running the timing too low
* bad tps
* bad idle air bypass
* bad coil
* bad wires/dizzy cap/rotor button
* fouled out spark plugs
* bad MAF sensor (from over oiling a K&N)
* electric fan blowing too much air on the MAF sensor

Yea I've been thru it all

If I had to guess, I'd go with the distributor or a vacuum leak.

Anyone have an idea about my iac and maf? Like I said I can unplug them either one at a time or at the same time and nothing happens. Idle doesn't change, nothing! I replaced the iac and checked and it has 12v power on the the red wire.

Heres an update, i was just snooping around under the hood and found 3 small vac lines open. they all run inside of plastic protectors going into the pasenger side fire wall. there are 5 or 6 total but only 3 are open. they are multi colored yellow,black white red etc... i assume they go to the climate controls or something. could this be a source of my idle problems? i sprayed carb cleaner there the other day but didnt find these lines. i would start the car to see if the idle changes but cant with tranny and flywheel on the garage floor. also i tried to pull codes but only get 11. my car has stalled out several times i figured there would be a code or to....?
