i was wondering who on here is strictly a ford person and who has the most. cuz my dad will not buy anything else. he thinks its nuts that people rag on fords quality cuz thats all we have ever had and love them. list how many u have and what they are. not what u have had in the past cuz that could go forever. we have 5. my cobra, 04 expedition, the 2000explorer, the 2001 f-150, and a new f-250 powerstroke turbodiesel. my dad but the f-250 yesterday and thats what made me think of it cuz our driveway is full of fords.

I was brought up in a ford family and that is pretty much the only cars we would ever own. I was a diehard ford guy till I started working on them for a living and realized that the majority of the ones they build today are low quality and not too mention have horrible resale. My parents still only own fords, a 99 expedition, 97 crown vic, and 91 5.0 t-bird, pretty much the more reliable cars ford use to build.

Everyone that thinks ford makes great cars should go on work on them for a while, its an eye opening experience.

Well, as of 6 months ago we had a 94 Taurus, a 97 F-150 4.6, and my mustang. The Taurus was a problem from day one... it got a transmission put in @ 80k, it was burning oil, miscellaneous electronic failures, just all in all a piece of junk. When my mom traded it in for her Camry just recently, the trans was starting to slip again (mind you we take very good care of our cars, this one was just crap). The F-150 is great as a work truck, we've hauled a few tons of gravel and all sorts of stuff up to the town compost center. However, like every other ford, the blinker multifunction switch broke after 50k miles. Also, we've been having a nasty exhaust leak for at least a year and we couldn't pin point it. Well apparently it was a problem from the factory... however ford mounted the manifolds, they start to back off after a while and develop a leak. As if this wasnt bad enough, the Y pipe broke off the manifold while my dad was on the highway so yeah that pipe and the manifold had to be replaced while my parents were on vacation. My dad called and was like "yeah I was just driving along and all of a sudden I heard somethign really loud so I looked in the mirror to see if you were driving behind me" haha. The steering rack is noisey as hell, it needed ball joints at 40k miles. Its just one thing after another with that truck...

We won't even get started on my car

In my immediate family + inlaws...oldest Ford to latest.

1966 Mustang Fastback(mine)- Great car.
1989 Ford Ranger(mine) - Good little beater
1989 Lincoln LSC(brother's)- Nice car
1992 F-150 Flareside (Dad's) - super nice truck low miles
1997 Ford Explorer(Inlaws) -she drives it very hard and it runs great
1997 F-150 (Inlaws) - had engine issue, but Ford paid the bill
1999 Ford Ranger(Brother's) - no problems
1999 Ford Ranger 4x4(BIL) -no issues
1999 Mustang GT(mine) -ole' reliable
2000 Mercury Sable(mom's work car) -almost 200,000 miles and runs like a champ
2002 Mercury Sable(Inlaws) - no issues
2003 Mazda MPV (Ford Engine)Wife's - been a good van
2005 Mercury Montego(Mom's) -only 8000 miles, but they love it.

I've owned several Ford's in the past including

88' Ford Escort EXP
99 Ford ZX2
04 Stang
06 Explorer

Most of them I didn't buy because I thought Fords were super duper or anything like that, they were just a whole lot cheaper than the imports

I don't think I'd ever become so dedicated to a commercially owned business that I would buy their products exclusively. Ford has some good products, and some not so good....but when I bought my Hyundai Sonata, it was a toss-up between a company with a growing reputation and 100k warrant or a Ford Focus. No loyaltly would ever make me buy a Focus!

I'm from a Ford only family. We have a four car garage, but it's still not enough. These are the ones we have right now, not including all the Fords we've had in the past.

Ok, those of you from all Ford families....why?!? Nothing against Ford, I was just raised to evaluate and research all options. When we bought the Explorer, we checked out all sorts of SUV's, then based on our needs and budget, we selected the Ford. Same with the Sonata, seemed like the overall best buy for the price.

Well, as you can see in my list above my wife and I bought a Mazda MPV minivan, simply because the Freestar sucks. But, on the other hand I think Hondas/Toyotas are overrated and would never buy a GM van. Price was another issue. So, the Mazda fit the bill, just bonus it has the 3.0 Duratec motor.
As for the rest, Ford truck are tough and I like the styling. And the Mustang.....well, lets just say its a "love" kinda thing.

Eh... I've had two. An 04 SVT Focus and now the Mustang GT.

I really don't get why people have super crazy brand loyalty. Brands change. Look at chevy, their car lineup sucked - now it's comin back and kickin some ass (not to mention all of the SS cars, including the trailblazer SS...those are fun!). Same with chrysler, they sucked, and are getting better (though still sorta suck lol).

Generally Fords have always had designs that I prefer of the domestic brands. Chevys always seemed weird in a way and Chrylser/Dodge/etc never had anything exciting when I was growing up in the 80's. Back then even Toyotas and other imports were just little econoboxes nobody wanted. Even now I think most of the imports have weird designs(save a few models specifically).
Plus I have never had a "lemon" Ford product, so as long as I get what I ask for, then I'll continue to buy Fords.

grew up with a '65 corvette stingray convertible in the household, also.

not brand specific.
and i loooooooooooooooooooove my mom's highlander so much more than her '00 explorer we just traded in. i was the only one to ever cover the explorer in mud.

i have owned a bunch of cars from from toyotas to buicks to vw's but i prefer ford though here are the two cars i currently own right now:

1999 white crown victoria bought off a elderly guy for 4500.00 told me he could'nt see too well anymore and he banged it up a few times getting in/ out of the garage his family told him to get rid of it only has 50k orig on clock so im second owner woo hoo!

2002 mustang gt convertible 20k miles great car summer only this is my fourth mustang but this one is my baby

family has always had fords. currently we have my 98 GT, a 81 LTD (getitng sent to a junkyard soon) and a 00 Grand Marquis. we mostly have ahd fords because they are the cars we tend to like the most, sounds weird i know. my mom had a 68, then a 78 mustang, so she was really happy when i finally bought mine.

i learned to hate a lot of ford's other offerings when i worked at a dealer. i had the joy of doing heavyline, so i got really good at pulling transmissions out of 4wd navigators and taurus'. if i get another ford it will probably be a 01-02 crown victoria. they have the PI heads, and still have the steering box parrallelogram front suspension with teh watts linkage out back. the newer steering rack crown vics dont feel right. also looking at getting a 6.0 PSD and praying i dont have a bunch of oil leaks. mostly need the truck for when my mustang gets too unbearable for street use.

The only Ford my entire family has is my Stang. When I say entire, I mean cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.

Ford doesn't pay me or even give me a discount for being brand loyal so i buy what i like...and haven't really liked anything from Ford in a few years. 04 Cobra is sweet but the 35k price was too much for a car that won't hold value.

I buy fords for two reasons

1. I work on them for a living so I am very familiar with fixing them.

2. I have had good luck with them, all of my fords were good cars overall.

I will but GM products too becuase I have had good luck with all my GM cars too. In fact the only bad car me and the wife ever owned was a mazda 323 but even that car was not too bad.

right now I have a 95 taurus wagon with the 3.8 in it that one has 107k on it. and we also have a 2000 sunfire with the 2.2 that has about 160k on it I just replaced my 95 taurus sedan with the wagon becuase we needed the room of a wagon for cheap money, my sedan ran great and commuted 100+ miles a day and had close to 200k on the original trans and engine, it's still on the road I gave it to a guy who put a windsheild in it and cleaned up the interior.

The only reason I own a Ford is because of the Mustang. I love Mustangs, I always have and I always will. Did I mention I love my Mustang?

I have two other cars though, a 01 Maxima GLE and a 98 Mazda 626 V6 (and the 626 is way more Mazda then Ford btw.)

These cars even with 100,000 more miles than low milage Ford 4 door cars I have ridden in are more quiet, more comfortable and drive better. There is a reason most imports hold their value so much better than domestic cars. The quality is MUCH better.

When it comes to cars, I am not brand loyal. I am a fan of the total package. I ask myself what car brings the most to the table for me?

Be an informed comsumer. Read reviews, read www.carsurvey.org Don't just pick a car because its the make you are used to. Find the best car out there for the money.

For the Mustang it was "what is the coolest muscle car I can get for the money I can spend?" Mustang hands down.

For my winter car and wifes car it was "what can I get that's reliable, comfortable, gets decent gas milage, has enough power to be fun to drive and fits my budget?" 7 years ago I got the 626, last year I got the Maxima.

In the 7 years I have owned the 626, I have changed the oil, replaced the tires and replaced the battery. Thats it! Original clutch, original brakes and just turned 118,000 last week. Try that with a domestic.

Information is power, do some digging before forking over your hard earned cash on a car just because it's the brand your Dad bought...
