I got a small bonus from work today and was considering throwing it at the 5.0. I was thinking about the Vortech SC trim kit since they have a rebate going on. I know that the recommended route is H/C/I then a SC later on, however I don't feel like yanking the engine, and I did the H/C/I thing on my old 89 and was never impressed with the performance. That plus I want some boost steers me towards the Vortech. I would eventually do the H/C/I later on for the full effect. What do you guys think? Waste of time?

Thanks

Definitely not a waste of time, if you ask me. With the supercharger alone, you'll be above HCI numbers with ease. Granted with a centrifugal supercharger the numbers will peak higher than they would if you did the HCI, but you could easily run a mid-low 12 second ET with a SC and gears.

can't go wrong with adding a supercharger.... allot less work then yanking the whole top end off in my opinion

Cool. Car has exhaust (no cats, smog), 3.55's, CAI, and a shifter. So its pretty basic.

Looking at the ease of a kit.

That's one of the reasons I wanted a SC instead of H/C/I. I don't want the car to have a lot of down time.

Eventually I want to build a blown 347, and I figure the SC is the hardest part to buy since it is one big lump where as with an engine build you can generally buy the parts one by one.

problem with the sc trim is its missing alot of pieces when you want to up the boost like bypass and 8 rib, etc....
