just got them installed today along with an aluminum driveshaft and all I can say is WOW. I cant imagine what the 4.10 would feel like. I know you have to shift alot sooner. Only problem is i have to install the speed cal. speedo is off pretty good. No gear whine or any other noises. How many miles do you put on before changing the fluid? And do you have any tips for breaking them in? so far Ive been taking it easy, really love the choice I made.

Haven't known anyone with 3.90s but would seem to be a pretty good gear ratio. Still a little bit closer to 3.73s than 4.10s but I'm sure a HUGE improvement over the standard gears. As for the control arms, I'm not real sure. But for break in, do like you've been instructed: GET ON IT!!!

good to see more people jumpin on the Motive 3.90 bandwagon... great gear choice for those torn between 3.73's and 4.10's... for those that love both highway and street...

this might sound a bit much but i heat cycled my gears for the first 100 miles then drove like a grandma for the next 300... but like i always say... better safe than sorry... the shop told me to h eat cycle for the first 100 and then baby it for the next 400.... but i went 300.. figured that was enough

20k miles later with Motive 3.90's and everything is great

I went with Pro-5.0 gears in 3.90, along with the Auburn Pro, 31 Spline Superior Axles, and a TA Cover.

I'm very happy with them- quieter than the stock 3.27's.

Thats what I was thinking about doing. Yeah it felt like a different car after changing them out. Stock gears were 2.73 which were nice if i did all highway driving. A friend told me the 3.90 would be perfect for my car.

Oh i asked the place that istalled the gears what I should do for break in and he told me just dont romp for a while. Thats why I ask about break in tips, figured there had to be more into the break in procedure.

I got my Motive 3.90's installed a few months ago and I've never looked back. I decided against 4.10's because I do a lot of highway and since GT's redline at 6K I think 4.10 go through the range a little quick for a daily driver. On an N/A 4V engine with a 7K redline it's a different story though

Not sure on how hard the install was because I brought it in. What surprised me though was I got the best install price at the ford garage. Took them about four hours and they told me everything was strong. They did run into trouble with a bearing and ended up using a torch to get it off. It would have been less time if I didnt have them replace the bearings.
