Ok this has been buggin me lately,
Usualy when i change my oil, There is only 4 1/2-5 quarts of old oil in my drain pan.. (use 6 quarts normaly) oil chang every 3-4k miles. more in the summer when at the track..(1500-2000 miles then)
Is it wierd for my car to use over a quart of oil and not smoke or leak?
Occasionaly I do get a light wiff of oil smell when i get off the freeway and stop while downshifting.. Should i be worried, I'm sure i have little or no engine warranty as all the mods probably voided that!
I have over revved the motor before when i first got the car..lol... went into 2cnd instead of 4rth on the freeway, tach went to 7k and i pushed in the clutch pretty quick.. but that was over a year and a half ago...
I am just wondering if I should expect problems or what?
I'm sure its not normal to use that much oil....right?

I would say you're on the high side of what would be considered normal consumption. I run a 5k drain interval and use a little less than a quart between changes, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. You may be losing a little oil through the PCV when your at the track, also, don't let the level slip past a quart low.

check your pcv valve for a leak , mine leaked when the car was 2 weeks old , dealer fixed if for free , took them a week to get the part pcv grommet and tube (wrong size somehow ) though because they changed the design a little between the 2001 and 2002 , and i got my car in dec. of 01 so they didnt have the parts like that yet .

My 02 had the same symptoms, the smell would get worse and worse the harder I drove the car, they ended up replacing the rear main seal and a head gasket.....it was under warranty, though.

That might be it... because when i changed my upper intake plenum, I ended up having to use one with the smaller egr fitting...(by 02 they switched to a larger diameter fitting) Also some oil (very small amount) on the valvecover around the fitting there too....
So I guess that would probably be it...thanks, I just was'nt thinking about it..

So what has to be done to fix it?.... Ahh I'll figure it out...I hope....
Thanks..........
(in reference to the fitting size, I used a piece of 3/8 fuel line inside the factory tube to make the two different sizes work toghether, It shows no signs of leaking there...)

not sure what they did to fix it , i think they put a whole new valve cover and everything on it , even the tube going to the plenum , because ford didnt have part numbers yet for just the pcv and pcv grommet yet .

You might want to check your owner's manual and make sure you need six quarts of oil. My early build 02 calls for 5 quarts and the dealership was adding six when I first had it serviced. Turns out the extra oil was seeping passed the PCV and dripping down onto the exhaust manifold. That might explain your burning oil smell. Now I only use five quarts. No more smell and no more oil pooling on the valve covers.
