I got my used 302 HO running pretty well, timing is at 12 degrees with 93 octane, tps set to .99, idle at 700-800 rpms, etc> My problem is this. The car runs strong and is making good power for a stock motor with exhaust but the check engine light always comes on after about 10 minutes or after i get on it real hard some times. When the light comes on, it starts running like crap. I can turn it off real quick and then restart it and it is good for another 10 minutes or so. Also, occasionaly I will hear a small intake pop or two. I ran the codes and the oxygen sensors are spitting out lean codes hence the intake pops. There is no emission stuff hooked up, and the egr vacume line isnt hooked up because I dont know what I can hook it to sence all the vaccume lines in the corner of the bay are gone. Can it be hooked directly to the vaccume tree? Any ideas would be great. Also, What happens if the car doesnt the little black fuel canister or whatever that thing is on the frame rail? Will that cause it to run lean? Thanks.
