Motor Mount Help

I am converting a '65 6-cylinder to a 351W.
I bought these mounts off ebay and was curious if they are the early or late sytle motor mounts. Also if they are the early mounts what else will I need besides the block mount?

Those look like the early V8 type from I can see from looking under my hood just now. All you should need is the block mount. They come in left and right, by the way. Make sure you write down which is which when you pick them up based on the part numbers because it is really hard to tell the difference when you are holding them in your hand about to put them in.

krash kendall is correct about the brackets. Those are the early Ford V8 engine frame mount brackets and they are the same as those for the pre-1965 Fairlanes. I had to get mine off of eBay too because there are no aftermarket repros of the early brackets. In addition to the block mounts you must get the engine mount support brackets which luckily you can buy as an aftermarket.

The 65 mounts will work with a 351w, but remember that they set the engine a little lower than the 66' mounts. Possible problems occur with headers--most header manufacturers recommend 66' type because the increased height gives more clearance in the V shape of the shock tower.

That said, I used 65 mounts and made it work.

The orientation and the shape of the lower shock tower mount is incorrect in that picture for a Mustang. (The part under what is circled.) See the picture I posted above for correct frame mounts.

The other parts are correct in shape.

I don't know what you mean by "lower shock tower mount" What is under the circled part is the frame mount brackets. This is a factory diagram from Ford.

I don't know how else to explain it but look at the picture of the mounts that I have above. The shock tower mount, as I called it, is similiar to the object in the lower right of my picture. The diagram shown of the same part has a 90 degree twist on it (probably drawn that way for clarity.) I've never seen one like it.

All early 65' mounts look like those that I show in my picture.
