Motor mounts gone crazy

Hey, new here. Just dropped my new 302 in my 67 coupe. Secured the right mount with no problem, but the left side mount is like over an inch from the hole for the bolt? Using the tall mounts like the ones on the old 289. Can't remember this problem years ago when I rebuilt the 289. Thanks for any help.

Have these same mounts been in the car before? If so you are just not lined up correctly. I had my engine/trans in and out of my car taking measurments 5 times in a couple of weeks and when I was ready to install it for good I had the same exact proble and ended up pulling it back up and the next time it went in great. Same mounts. Still have chain on engine. Pulled it up and down several times. Still not lining up? Guess I'm going to try to bend some metal and rubber.

Remove the mounts from the block. Place them where they go wit the through bolt loose so there is some play. Then lower the block down and line up the holes from underneath, run the 4 bolts into the mounts and block by hand. Tighten all 4 up then the through bolts. Be creful when under the car. I try not to get under the engine.

'67 motor mounts and frame mounts are unique. I had problems with mine too. The frame is drilled different, the frame mounts are different and the uppers are different. http://www.fomoco.com/forummain/res...Option=0&Name=on&Email=on&Key=67 motor mounts

you can make em work....i did in mine, just make sure and drill through em and put a nice big bolt through em, or you will tear them to pieces in 2 weeks.

what brian said. check with a mustang parts supplier and get the right mount for the 67. making the other mount work can be done, but it is not the right way to do it.
