motor rocks alot at idle

the for sure buty i havent doen the distributor thing yet because i have been working alot. it is a crate motor is it possible that they used a post 73 or whatever cam grind and crank in my pre 73 block? if so would that change the firing order?

thanks,
tommy

What firing order are you using Tommy? 351s have always had the 13726548 firing order since day one....they were the oddball Ford because all other Ford engines use the 15426378 firing order.....go check that first then. They switched the 302 over to the 351 firing order in the later models but I am not sure exactly when that took place.

the motor rocks a whole lot at idle but mellows out when you rev it up as well as that pesky rattlecan sound goes away as described in my other thread

Just me, but sounds like you might have a healthy cam in there :D :nice: If so, then the rocking is cool.
