what will make a motor skip, i have a 302 with a 4 barrel in a 68 mustang. i have changed the spark plugs and wires rotor and distributor cap. the motor sat up for six years and i have just recently got it running. i am going to get the carburator rebuilt but i am not sure that will fix the problem. i have been told to pour transmission fluid in the carburator to help the valves set, does anyone else know if this will work.

thanks for any help.

If it sat not running for 6 years, you have a lot of gunky build up around your pistons, as well as gum and varnish in the carb and fuel system. Change out the fuel filter, and fill up the tank with fresh gas, and see if letting it run awhile helps it at all. Most likely a carb rebuild is needed too.
