The 5.0 motor swap has finally been completed! A HUGE Thanks to everyone that was involved: Al, for all his help allowing me to use his garage, tools and his wealth of knowledge in the transformation; Brandon (my neighbor), for his back breaking assistance in getting the old engine out and the new in; Brandon (killrb), for selling me the engine at such a cheap price and talking me into swaping the engines out instead of pulling his parts off the engine and putting them onto mine saving me a lot of time and probably a lot of headaches to go with; and last but not least John, for hooking me up with Brandon and his old engine!!

The difference in power is remarkable. Everytime I get in, start her up, and burn the tires off; I can not stop smiling. I get compliments on how it sounds and looks everywhere I go. My wife got to ride in it today and before I could even get out of the driveway, she said "Whow! What a difference the new engine made." And then I took her onto the highway and took a trip to Gig Harbor and I don't think that there was a second she wasn't smiling. It was well worth all the back breaking hours spent at the Hospital working to save enough money to get it completed just to finally see the smile on her face instead of the cringe look I get when I say, "Honey going to work so I can save money for the car." or "Going to Al's to work on the car." She was begining to wonder if I was ever going to spend any time with her. And now I think she wants to spend all my time with me in my new found Beast! Wink, Wink.. If you know what I mean!

I want to add pics but can't figure out how you all are doing all these pics without using all your attachment space... Can someone fill me in so I can add pics!!

Explorer intake and GT40 P heads (home ported) with shorty headers and a stock cam with 70mm TB, 73mm MAF meter, 24lb injectors, and CAI. Its almost all of John's old engine out of his 87. I can't wait to see what this combo does on the track. Next month I am rebuilding the trans and adding a stall as well. Not sure what size to go with because it still is mostly a street car at this time in its life. Will have to add a trans cooler and drag radials to keep it on the street.

Should be a fun combo. Is the opening on the intake bored cause they only measure 64mm at the opening, so your 70 is a little big for that combo IMO.

Good question. That would be one for John to answer since he built the setup a few years ago.

John, any comments on that?

I have the same intake, running a 65mm TB. The opening on the intake was bored a bit over 66mm.

When it was N/A using GT-40 iron heads (cobra version) and Motorsport E cam, it went 13.7 @ 104 if I remember right on street tires that I went around the water so not even a burn out.

287 rwhp and 308 ft lbs of tq is what it did on the dyno in N/A form.

I plan on a power adder in the future but for now, I'm just a military man trying to earn a living and build my stang the best I can with what I'm givin. Some day its going to be one that I can take to the track and run the crap out of and then put it in the All Ford Round Up the next weekend and show off its beauty. But for now, I drive it back and forth to both my jobs and play when I can.
