My carbon plastic ring on my distributor is cracked all around. At Advanced they have on , but its called an adapter. Whats up with that. Will my cap and rotor still fit

if the parts store says it fits it probably fits. I just got a motorcraft cap from advance for $17, cheaper than the BWD one. They wanted $33 for the rotor though!!!

Yes but its not the cap its the plastic ring under the cap . They call it an adapter. Motorcraft is $77 on E Bay.....$17 for BWD. It looks the same If I knew how to put a webpage on here I would. I will ask them at Advanced

Looks like a standard distributor cap bottom. I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

It's what LMR calls it too. It's probably made by the same vendor

Mustang Distributor Cap Adapter - EFI Applications (86-93) 5.0

Replace your damaged, or old distributor cap adapter in your 1986-1993 EFI Fox Body Mustang.

Looks the same. Mine is falling apart. The cap did not, does not fit exact. Maybe it will run better. Looks like I dont have to remove the distributor. $22 bucks

I used one. And I painted it black as well. At some point they changed from calling it a base to an adapter. All the same though.

Just check the fit of your cap once the adapter is all tightened down to your distributor. The BWD ones are hit/miss as far as quality, and they seem to have some warpage where the cap will rock back-n-forth on the adapter once it's tightened down. I've run in to this more than once but luckily Advance Auto kept taking them back until we finally got a good one.. I checked the fit of my cap at the store and it fit well, but once tightened down the adapter warpage was evident. We even tried their own caps with the same result.

I just went through this debacle a while back. I even got a rebuilt Motorcraft dizzy that had the shaft hole drilled off center in the body. The rotor was hitting the terminals on one side of the cap. Took quite a bit of head scratching to figure it all out.

Parts stores suck.
