movin to a 4.6

Well my GTS is getting a lot of miles on it now, so I guess its time to move on. I don't post much but Iam on here nearly everyday reading threads and acquiring new info, so thanks a lot for all of the help. I hope the 4.6L bunch is as helpful with tips on how to modify an 02-03.

High mileage is nothing to worry about if the car is still in good condition. Mine has 101k on it, and I'm in the process of getting my engine together, plus I only have 40k on the trans, and I have no plans of ever selling it. Once I finish it up, it'll probably serve my daily driver duties again during the later spring/summer/early fall months, weather permitting. I fully expect to have around 115-120k on it by this fall, and that's nothing for these cars if they've been properly maintained. While I definitely like the look of the '99-04 Mustangs, I wouldn't be able to part with my '95. Almost did once for an '01, but I'm glad everyday that I still have it.

Yeah man no need to get rid of it...Keep it and get another one b/c you will be mad at yourself that you did everyday for the rest of your life. I am still mad at myself for selling my civic for the payoff on the car about 4 yrs ago. I know it's not a stang but i am mad b/c i put a lot of work into that car and it onlt had 46k on it. So on't sell it man keep it

Thats a big if. From my experience, unless u have owned the car its whole life, u cant be too sure on how long it will last. Mine signed off at 100k. No sign of it coming either.

Just remember that yes, these cars can last forever. But, these cars were built to beat up and have fun in...so if u havent owned the car its whole life, keep that in the back of your head.

That said i would never get rid of my car. But i do want a 99+ some day though....only a 4.6 DOHC though. Not a SOHC.

i picked up my car around 80k and i now have 126k and im running pretty strong still.

i wouldn't do it, i have a 156k on mine and it still runs like new. i think you will regret the decision to sell it. where i live i never see 94-95's but just about every other car is a 99+ mustang

i have seen several mod motored cars that lack the durability of a pushrod motor.... we have a few in out club around here.... seems like the meleage gets to them more....

IF you want to ruin a GTS, go for it. (I don't mean to be rude by saying that). That's nothing against a 4.6 either .... it's just GTS' are getting hard to find. I think the value of it with a 5.0 in it (in several years) is enough reason not to do it. When a person goes looking for a '95 GTS, I don't think they'll want a 4.6 in it. I think the 96-98 GT's will not exactly be sought after, nor their engine's. JMO.

I believe he is talking of selling the GTS.... and buying and 01-02 or something along those lines..

Yes Iam planning on selling the 95 and getting an 02-04 simply because my 95 has 215000kms, its a daily driver and I need a newer lower mileage car for dependibility. I do not see alot of people paying anything extra for a GTS and I just finished University so I simply cannot afford to keep the GTS just to hang on to or "fix up" someday although it has given me almost no trouble (Iam almost affraid things will start going wrong because basically nothing has failed so far). I figure I will take what I can get out of the car right now and put that money toward a newer low mileage Mustang.

im not sure ppl will be ready to pay a little more to get a GTS... the GTS has no value here, I mean, it's being sold 1-2k under the GT's value

I owned a relatively low miled 95 and I really loved the 302 and alot of things about that car. Then the tranny and other things started going downhill on it so I went to a black 03 gt. That car was wonderful and about as fast and the 95, keeping in mind both cars have exhaust and bolt ons. Then I got to where I hated black being my daily driver because of my pickiness so I switched to the same thing but silver. The thing is with these 4.6's is that it really cost a pretty penny to get some big horse out of it and its really hard to do so much to a relatively new car. But now I have a daily driver and I'm switching back to a 94-95 w/ either a 302 or 351 and it will be built to the max. I want extreme speed and I also am so dang tired of seeing all the 99-04's and in the past few months I am seeing an extreme amount of 99-04 gt's. I can see why you are wanting to change if you are wanting a stock 4.6 for a daily driver. Anyways that is just my input..

intake plenum and tb

thats good for 290-300 tuned right

I just noticed that not only do you have a '95 GTS .... but it is Sapphire Blue. Extremely rare. I'm sure someone on here will jump on it in a heartbeat.

Heh, my car had 171,000mi, (275,200km) on it before I dropped in the 306; it ran perfect and the previous owner treated it like s***, 215k km is only 129k miles, I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Also, as previously stated, I'd hold out for a DOHC, screw the 2v. Have you ever seen a 2v intake???
